If user attempts to use pre-compiled kcs driver image on a different distribution, this will cause image symbol error message. To avoid this issue, user must do a real-place compiling to produce a proper kcs driver image for current running distribution. 2.14 Version 1.00 - Initial Release 3.0 Installation and Setup Instructions ----------------------------------------- Note: The management application program must be stopped before any of these service processor device drivers can be installed. To install the software on Linux, you need to have the root privilege. Make sure you get the correct RPM package before installation, according to your Linux and it's kernel. 3.1 By following the installation instructions shown below, the correct System Management Device Driver will be installed onto your system. Step 1: Type the following command to install this source RPM package and build binary RPM package. rpm -ivh RedHat_msi_ipmi-src-x.x-x.noarch.rpm Note: In this installing procedure, couldn't install any driver or library. Only produce binary RPM. Step 2: After installing source RPM package, for RedHat Enterprise Linux 3(64-bit) distribution, user can find the binary RPM (msi_ipmi-x.x-x.x86_64.rpm) in /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/x86_64 directory. This binary RPM contains proper msi_ipmi driver, libmsisp6.so.32 (in both 32bit OS and 64bit OS) and libmsisp6.so.64( only in 64bit OS) library for this linux distribution.
