1.0  Overview

     This package contains support software for IBM Automatic 
     Server Restart (ASR) hardware on xSeries servers.



2.0  Change History

     2.1  IBM Automatic Server Restart Support Software version 5.26 to 5.27
     
          Added support for future xSeries servers. 


     2.2  IBM Automatic Server Restart Support Software version 5.24.01 to 5.26
     
          Added support for future xSeries servers. 


     2.3  IBM Automatic Server Restart Support Software version 5.24 to 5.24.01
     
          Fixed a problem in the installation code that prevented the update 
          of the SMBus driver.  The drivers are unchanged from the previous
          release, only the installation code changed.  


     2.4  IBM Automatic Server Restart Support Software version 5.23 to 5.24
     
          Fixed a problem in the driver that could cause Windows to crash  
          while it is shutting down.


     2.5  IBM Automatic Server Restart Support Software version 1.02 to 5.23
     
          Changed the README.TXT version number to match the internal version 
          of the system management device driver so that all verbal, written
          and software references that identify the driver version will be 
          consistent.


     2.6  IBM Automatic Server Restart Support Software version 1.01 to 1.02
     
          Fixed problems with driver installation to allow this package
          to be used by IBM Update Xpress.


     2.7  IBM Automatic Server Restart Support Software version 1.00 to 1.01
     
          Fixed a problem with driver installation on xServer 200 and 300 
          systems.

3.0  ASR support software installation and removal instructions 
--------------------------------------------------------------

     2.1  To install ASR drivers under Windows Server 2003 or
          Windows 2000:

          * Execute the ASR installation program.
          * Follow the directions that appear on the screen.

          NOTE: If the Windows Hardware Wizard starts itself before, 
                or during the installation of ASR device drivers, because
                it has detected the System Management hardware, then close
                the Hardware Wizard by clicking the "Cancel" button.  The 
                actions of the Hardware Wizard are not needed.
     
          NOTE: For xServer 200 and 300 systems only, if IBM Director 
                version 4.1 is installed after this package, then this 
                package will need to be reinstalled.


     2.2  To uninstall the ASR drivers under Windows Server 2003 or
          Windows 2000: 

          * Execute the ASR installation program with the following 
            command line parameters:  /a /U
          * Follow the directions that appear on the screen.
