       1.0  Overview:   This driver is required to enable the audio features of
			8478, 6836, or 6846 systems

             1.1  Overview about this code

		This readme file contains information to Install or Uninstall
		the "VIA AC97 PCI Audio Device" driver on Win NT 4.0 systems.    

      1.2  Limitations
 	
 		Minimum hardware requirements are a Pentium II 266 MHz CPU
		(or Pentium 200 MHz CPU) and 32 MB Ram.

      1.3   Enhancements

      1.4   Level of Recommendations and Prerequisites for the Update:

 		a) The "VIA AC97 PCI Audio Device" driver package supports
		Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4, build 1381 or later. 

      1.5   Dependencies:
   			
		a) This package can only be installed on systems implemented
		with the VIA VT82C686A chip.

      3.0   Installation and Setup Instructions

		a) Type "D:> SETUP.EXE" to install from the setup program. Select
		"Install" to do all of Installation. After the system reboots,
		the driver will be installed completely.

		b) Optionally follow the instructions listed below:

		1. Select the "Multimedia" icon from the Control Panel to install
		this driver.

		2. When the "Multimedia Properties" is displayed, select the
		"Devices" sheet then click the "Add" button. 

		3. When the "Add" page is displayed, select the "Unlisted or
		Upgraded Driver" from the "List of Drivers". Then click "OK"
		button.

		4. Type the source volume and "\WINNT40" directory where the
		driver located. Then click "OK" button.

		5. The "VIA AC97 PCI Audio Device" will be displayed on the "Add
		Unlisted on Updated Driver" page. Select "OK" then the driver
		will be installed into the system.

	3.1 Installing a Joystick Device:
 
		a) Select "Joystick Devices" on the "Multimedia Properties" then click
		"OK" button.
       
		b) Select the joystick from the "List of Drivers" or from the "Unlisted
		or Upgraded Driver" which is supported from the Joystick manufacturer.
    
		After the selection, the "VIA AC97 PCI Audio Device" and its 
		subsystems will be installed automatically. The "VIA AC97 PCI Audio 
		Device" will work when the installation is completed.
	
	3.2 Driver Uninstall: 

		a) Type "D:> SETUP.EXE" to uninstall from the setup program. Select
		"Remove" to do all of uninstall. After the system reboots, the
		driver will be removed.

		b) Optionally follow the instructions listed below to remove the
		driver:

		1. Select the "Multimedia" icon from the Control Panel to uninstall
		this driver.

		2. When the "Multimedia Properties" is displayed, select the
		"Devices" sheet then click the "Remove" button. 

		3. When the "Remove" page is displayed, click the "OK" button then
		the driver will be removed.

	Unattended installations use an InstallShield Silent Response File 
	(setup.iss) to provide user input.

	5.1 Running an Unattended Installation:

		Run SETUP.EXE as described in the installation section above, but 
		with the -s parameter to use the .iss file that is provided with the 
		driver.
