What This Package Does ---------------------- This package provides the video driver for Windows 95/98/Me users. The video driver enables or updates the video function of the following ThinkPad systems: - ThinkPad T23 To determine if you should update the display driver, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. To update the display driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions" section. Installation instructions for Windows 95(OSR2.x)/98/Me ------------------------------------------------------ 1. Start Windows 95(OSR2.x)/98/Me. 2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. Type C:\DRIVERS\W9X\DISPLAY\SETUP in the Run dialog window to install the display driver. Click OK to start the installation process. If you extracted the driver files to a different location, specify that location instead. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen. To uninstall the display driver (and utilities, if installed): 1. Double-click Add/Remove Programs icon in Control Panel, 2. Select SuperSavage and Utilities in the list box. 3. Click the Add/Remove button to remove the display driver. The utilities should be removed as well if they were installed with the driver. NOTE: A user can uninstall under all modes without requiring the user to return to VGA mode manually. If necessary, the Uninstall procedure will reset the system to VGA. Upon completion of the UnInstall, the system will be in the VGA mode. Installation instructions for Windows 95 OSR0 and SP1 ----------------------------------------------------- Since the SETUP.EXE, InstallShield, does not work with Windows 95 OSR0/1, do the following. Clean installation 1. Start Windows 95. 2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, select Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the System icon. 5. Click the Device Manager tab. 6. Expand Display Adapters. 7. If there is a S3 only adapter, remove it. 8. At the Confirm Device Removal window, click OK. 9. At the Restart confirmation message window, click NO. 10. Expand Other Devices section and remove PCI VGA-Compatible Display Adapter. 11. At the Confirm Device Removal window, click OK. 12. At the PCI VGA-Compatible Display Adapter Has a ROM window, click Test. 13. Shutdown and restart the system. 14. When the system starts, the New Hardware Found window appears. Put check mark in Driver from disk provide by hardware manufacturer. Click OK. 15. Specify the directory where the diver files were extracted and click OK. 16. At the System Settings Change window, click YES to restart the system. Overwrite installation 1. Start Windows 95. 2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, then select Settings, then click Control Panel. 4. Double-click the System icon. 5. Click the Device Manager tab. 6. Expand Display Adapters. 7. Select S3 Graphics,Inc. SuperSavage/IXC SDR and click the Properties buttons. 8. Select the Driver Tab. 9. Click the Change Driver button. 10. Click the Have Disk button. 11. Specify the directory where the diver files are extracted and click OK. 12.At the Select Device window, select S3 Graphics,Inc. SuperSavage/IXC SDR and click OK. 13.At the S3 Graphics,Inc. SuperSavage/IXC SDR window, click OK. 14. At the Insert Disk window, click OK. 15. Specify the directory where the diver files are extracted and Click OK. 16. At the System Settings have changed window, click Yes to restart the system. Unattended installation ----------------------- 1. Start Windows 95/98/Me. 2. Extract the drivers to the hard disk drive. 3. Click Start, then click Run. 4. Run SETUP.EXE in extracted folder with -S -SMS option. For example, C:\DRIVERS\VIDEO\SETUP.EXE -S -SMS Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- Windows 98/Me 1. Boot Windows 98/Me. 2. Click the Start button. 3. Move the cursor to the Settings then click the Control Panel. 4. Double-click the Display icon. 5. Select the Settings tab. 6. Click the Advanced button. 7. Select the S3Info Plus tab. 8. Check S3 Driver field. You can confirm 4.13.01.2026-12.32.26. This means ver 12.32.26. Windows 95 1. Boot Windows 95. 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel. 3. Double-click the Display icon. 4. Select the S3Info Plus tab. 5. Check S3 Driver field. You can confirm 4.13.01.2026-12.32.26. This means ver 12.32.26.
