What This Packages Does
-----------------------
This package provides the Modem driver for Windows 2000 users.
The Modem driver enables or updates the Modem function of the
following ThinkPad computer:

  - ThinkPad 240X
  - ThinkPad 240Z

To determine if you should update the Modem driver, refer to the
"Summary of Changes" section.

To update the Modem driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions" 
section.

Installation Instructions   
-------------------------
INSTALL:
 1. Start Windows 2000 and log on with the user ID authorized as
    an administrator.
 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
 3. Click Start, then clck Run.
 4. Type in C:\DRIVERS\W2K\MODEM\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and
    click Next.
 5. Follow the instructions, and restart the system.

UNINSTALL:
 1. Start Windows 2000 and log on with the user ID authorized as
    an administrator.
 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
 3. Click Start, then clck Run.
 4. Type in C:\DRIVERS\W2K\MODEM\LTREMOVE.EXE in the Open box and
    click Yes.
 5. Follow the instructions. The system will restart.

Determining which version is installed 
--------------------------------------
 1. Start Windows 2000.
 2. Click Start, select Programs, select Accessories, select
    Communications, then click Hyper Terminal.
 3. Double-click the Hyper Terminal icon.
 4. Type any name, and click OK.
 5. Choose Lucent modem, then click Cancel.
 6. Type ati3, and press the Enter key.
    The version will be displayed.

    NOTE:
    The ati3 command will have the following response, but this driver
    supports V.90 modem function, not V.92 modem function.
       LT V.92 Data+Fax Modem Version n.nn     (n.nn : version number)
