What This Package Does
-----------------------
This package provides the Ethernet driver for Windows 98/Me users.

This release supports the following systems:

   - ThinkPad R 30

To determine if you need to update the Ethernet driver, refer to
the "Summary of Changes" section below.

To update the Ethernet driver, refer to the "Installation instructions" 
section below.

Installation instructions
-------------------------
Windows 98>
< 1. Start Windows 98>.
 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
 3. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
 4. Double-click the System icon.
 5. Click the Device Manager tab.
 6. Expand the Network adapters section.
 7. Click 'Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100)' to select it.
 8. Click the Properties button.
 9. Click the Driver tab.
10. Click the Update Driver button.
11. Click the Next button on the Update Device Driver Wizard window.
12. Select 'Search for a better driver than the one your device is
    using now.(Recommended)'.
13. Click Next button.
14. Select Specify a location: only.
15. Specify the directory name with the full path name where you
    extracted the package in the step 2 in Specify a location:.
16. Click Next button.
17. Click Next button.
    The driver installation starts.
18. Click Finish button when the installation completes.
19. Restart the system for the driver to be effective.

<Windows Me>
 1. Start Windows Me.
 2. Extract this package onto the hard disk drive.
 3. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
 4. Double-click the System icon.
 5. Click the Device Manager tab.
 6. Expand the Network adapters section.
 7. Click 'Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100)' to select it.
 8. Click the Properties button.
 9. Click the Driver tab.
10. Click the Update Driver button.
11. Select 'Specify the location of the driver(Advanced)'.
12. Click Next button.
13. Select 'Search for a better driver than the one your device is
    using now.(Recommended)'.
15. Select Specify a location: only.
16. Specify the directory name with the full path name where you
    extracted the package in the step 2 in Specify a location:.
17. Click Next button.
18. Click Next button.
    The driver installation starts.
19. Click Finish button when the installation completes.
20. Restart the system for the driver to be effective.


Determining which version is installed
--------------------------------------
Windows 98/Me
 1. Start Windows 98/Me.
 2. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
 3. Double-click the System icon.
 4. Click the Device Manager tab.
 5. Expand the Network adapters section.
 6. Double-click the Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter(10/100).
 7. Click the Driver tab.
 8. Click the Driver File details button.
 9. Highlight the file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\E100BNT5.SYS.
    The file has the File version number embedded.
