Installation Guide ------------------ If you have newly installed Windows 2000 on the system, follow the procedure indicated as " Clean Installation ". Otherwise, follow the procedure indicated as " Update Installation ". - Update Installation - 1. Start Windows 2000 2. Extract this package onto the hard drive. 3. Click Start-> Setting-> Control Panel. 4. Double click the System icon. 5. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window. 6. Click the Device Manager button. 7. Double click Sound, video and game controllers in the list. 8. Double click Crystal WDM Audio Codec. 9. Click the Driver tab at the top of the Crystal WDM Audio Codec Properties window. 10. Click the Update Driver button. 11. Click the Next button in Upgrade Device Driver Wizard window. 12. Click the Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver. 13. Click the Next button. 14. Click the Have Disk button. 15. Type in C:\DRIVERS\W2K\AUDIO. 16. Click the OK button. 17. Click Crystal WDM Audio Codec in the list. 18. Click the Next button. 19. If the Update Driver Warning window appeared, click Yes. 20. Click the Next button. 21. Click the Finish button. 22. Restart the system for the driver to take effect. - Clean Installation - 1. Start Windows 2000 and log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator. 2. Extract this package onto the hard drive. 3. Click Start-> Setting-> Control Panel. 4. Double click the System icon. 5. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window. 6. Click the Device Manager button. 7. Click Multimedia Audio Controller in the list. 8. Right click Multimedia Audio Controller and select Uninstall. 9. Click the OK button in Confirm Device Removal window. 10. Click Action on top and choose Scan for hardware changes. 11. Click Next from Found New Hardware Wizard. 12. Click the Next button. 13. Check Specify a location. 14. Click the Next button. 15. Type in C:\DRIVERS\W2K\AUDIO. 16. Click the OK button. 17. Click the Next button. 18. Press the Finish button. 19. Restart the system for the driver to take effect. Determining what version is installed ------------------------------------- 1. Start Windows 2000. 2. Click Start -> Setting-> Control Panel. 3. Double click the System icon. 4. Click the Hardware tab at the top of the System Properties window. 5. Click the Device Manager button. 6. Expand the Sound, video and game controller section. 7. Select Crystal WDM Audio Codec. 8. Right click Crystal WDM Audio Codec and select Properties. 9. Click the Driver tab. 10. Then it will show the version number.
