IBM ThinkPad January 25, 2000 DVD-Video Player Upgrade for Windows 95/98/2000 Version 5.00.00.15.6 ====================================================================== What This Package Does ---------------------- The accompanying DVD-Video Player Upgrade package can update the DVD-Video Player feature in the ThinkPad computer. (A limitation) This update should not be used if playing DVD movies through the IBM Portable Drive bay (connected to the system by USB or PC Card connector). Movies will not play properly if this upgrade is used with such a configuration. The following models with the DVD-ROM Drive option are supported: - ThinkPad 390, 390E, 390X - ThinkPad i Series 1720, 1721, 1781 To determine if you should update the DVD-Video Player Upgrade package, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. To upgrade the DVD-Video Player, refer to the "Installation Instructions" section. Installation Instructions ------------------------- Note: - Use this driver only for the ThinkPads with Mediamatics DVDExpress installed. - This package can not be installed without the Mediamatics DVDExpress DVD-Video player installed in the system. This package is for upgrade purpose only. - (ThinkPad 390E on Windows 2000) Use the BIOS version R01_C4 or later. Use Display Driver for Windows 2000 version 6.03.02Q or later. - (ThinkPad 390X and i Series 1781 on Windows 2000) Use the BIOS version isb047ww or later. Use Display Driver for Windows 2000 version 6.03.02Q or later. 1. Verify that the DVD-ROM drive is installed in your computer. If the DVD drive is not installed, install it before continuing. 2. Start Windows 95/98/2000. Log on with the user ID authorized as an administrator for Windows 2000. 3. Extract the upgrade package onto the hard disk drive. 4. Click Start, then click Run. 5. Type in C:\DRIVERS\WIN\DVD\SETUP.EXE in the Open box and click OK. 6. Follow the instructions on the screen. Determining which version is installed -------------------------------------- 1. Run DVD-Video Player (DVDExpress). 2. Click the DVD Options button which is at the bottom left corner of the DVD-Video Player. 3. A DVD Options window appears.
