Notice:

- If you use the Product Recovery function shipped with your ThinkPad
  to restore the Windows preload environment, you do not need this
  package. This package is required when you install Windows Operating
  Systems without the Product Recovery function.
- This program is based on the US version but, this is language
  independent and can be used with any language system.


What This Package Does
----------------------
This package contains following support modules.

  - To detect and configure the INTEL chipset.

The following ThinkPad computers are supported:

  - ThinkPad R40
  - ThinkPad T40/T41/T42
  - ThinkPad X31

To determine if you should update the supplement files, refer to the
"Summary of Changes" section.

To update the supplement files, refer to the "Installation Guide"
section.

Installation Guide
------------------
This package is applicable to Windows 98 (First released version, 4.10.1998)
 only, not to Windows 98 Second Edition.

[Setup.exe]

 Apply this program to enumerate INTEL chipset correctly
 after installing base operating system with each supplement files.

Installation:
 1. Close any running applications.
 2. Run the InstallShield* installation program: in INTEL98G directory.
       setup.exe -USB2
 3. You will be prompted to agree to the license agreement.
    If you do not agree, the Installer will exit before extracting any files.
 4. Follow the on-screen instructions and use the default settings to complete the setup,
    once the operating system has rebooted.
 5. This completes the installation of the Intel(R) Chipset Software Installation Utility.

Unattended installation:

 - Run setup.exe with additional switch "-S" shown below.
       setup.exe -S -USB2
