What This Package Does ---------------------- This package provides the TPM driver for Windows Vista 32bit/64bit. The TPM driver enables or updates the TPM functions on the following ThinkPad computers. This release supports the following systems: - ThinkPad T43 - ThinkPad T43p - ThinkPad R52 To determine if you should update the TPM driver, refer to the "Summary of Changes" section. To update the TPM driver, refer to the "Installation Instructions" section. Start Windows Vista 2. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive. The default location is C:\Drivers\Win\TPM. 3. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, then click Device Manager. 4. Click System devices to expand the category 5. Right-click "NSC TPM Device", "NSC Integrated Trusted Platform Module 1.1" or "Winbond Trusted Platform Module 1.1" in "System devices" and click Update Driver Software. 6. Click Browse my computer for driver software. 7. Click Browse, then specify the directory where you extracted the package in the step 2. The default location is C:\Drivers\Win\TPM. 8. Confirm the Include subfolders checkbox is selected and click Next. 9. You may receive a "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to install this driver software?" notification, if so click Install. 10. Click Close after the installation is complete. CLEAN INSTALL: ------------------------- (Unknown device in Other devices) 1. Start Windows Vista and logon with administrative privileges. 2. Double-click the driver package to extract it to your hard drive. The default location is C:\Drivers\Win\TPM. 3. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, then click Device Manager. 4. Double-click Other devices to expand the category, then right-click Unknown device and select Properties. Note: If there are multiple unknown devices you can determine the right device by the following steps: 4-1. Right-click the Unknown device and select Properties, then click the Details tab. 4-2. Select Hardware IDs from the drop-down menu. 4-3 If the value shows "NSC 1100", it is the National Semiconductor TPM device, if not try again with the next unknown device. 5. Click the Driver tab, then click Update Driver. 6. Click Browse my computer for driver software. 7. Specify the directory where you extracted the package in the step 2 and click Okay. The default location is C:\Drivers\Win\TPM. 8. Confirm the Include subfolders checkbox is selected and click Next. 9. Click Close after the installation is complete. Notes: - During installation the following dialogs may appear because of windows Security in Vista. Choose Install and then proceed with the Installation. - Message 1 - Windows Security - Would you like to install this device software? You should only install drivers software from publishers you trust. - Message 2 - Windows Security - Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software - During installation, the following dialogs may appear because of the User Account Control in Vista. Click Continue or Allow and then proceed installation. - Message 1 - A program needs your permission to continue If you started this program, continue. - Message 2 - An unidentified program wants access to your computer Don't run the program unless you know where it's from or you've used it before.
