2015-06-05
----------
The SoundFX 2 and MultiMedia Sound folders have been joined into one
under the name of MultiMedia Sound. Some faulty and duplicated modules were
deleted. As far as module science can tell, there is no detectable difference
between these formats. Both are names of trackers that used the same format,
and MMS was the latest version.

2014-03-05
----------
The Renoise folders were getting out of hand with all those versions
and have been reorganized. Renoise modules are now only separated into
Renoise Old (the older format, .rns) and Renoise (the current xml-based
format, .xrns).

2014-03-04
----------
New format: Piston Collage Protected (.pttune). Not really a new format
as it has been mixed up with Piston Collage since it was added in 2006.
Today I thought it was time to make an effort to disentangle the mess within
this folder. It contained .ptcop files (the default format), .pttune files
(the protected, uneditable format now broken out to its own folder), .org
files (Organya and Organya 2, Pixel's older formats which have their own
folders) and two strange .pmd files which I have moved to the laboratory
for further study (they are not of the format called PMD).

2014-03-03
----------
There is now a torrent of the contents of Modland (as it was on february
27th of this year)! There was another one years ago, but this one is
"official" and will be seeded by me from now on:

ftp://ftp.modland.com/modland_2014-02-27.torrent

This should be more convenient than FTP for those who want to download
everything. It's not seeded from the server, so it will be rather slow
until it's picked up by others with faster connections. You are very welcome
to help out with the seeding if you have 49 GB you don't need and some
bandwidth to spare. Also feel free to publish the torrent on various file
sharing sites. New torrents will follow when enough changes have been made.

2014-02-09
----------
I learned that bzip2, which was used to compress the allmods and hash
lists, isn't universally supported, so I changed to the default compression
(deflate). If you have had problems opening these files, it should work
better now.

2014-02-05
----------
New format: CustomMade (.cm). This was mixed up with Delitracker Custom and
Ron Klaren. As far as current module science can tell, this was the original
format of Ron Klaren's music in games like Battle Squadron. The format named
after him is a later EaglePlayer adaptation.

New formats: Digital Tracker DTM (.dtm) and Digital Tracker MOD (.mod), both
replacing DigitalTracker. This is an Atari Falcon tracker where the older
versions created a Protracker based format (FA04/06/08) which is usually
not playable by Protracker replayers (as far as I have found). The last(?)
version, 1.9, had modules of a new format, most of which have until now
been misidentified as DigiTrekker, a wholly unrelated DOS tracker.

The upload area has now been fixed once and for all (hopefully), so feel
free to contribute if you have anything that should be in the collection.

The changelog is now properly sorted and contains changes from the documents
and software areas as well as modules.

2014-02-01
----------
Finally we have changelogs again, and better than before since the script
to generate them now use checksums. We couldn't do that before, it was just
too slow. This makes the script able to detect more types of changes, like
renaming, which before was listed as a deletion and an addition.
For now the changelog only includes modules, but shortly it will also include
software and other stuff.

2013-09-21
----------
Here is Coma again. Time passes... and I'm fixing some stuff I should have
fixed when the server was migrated. Actually quite a lot of stuff. The most
immediately problematic issue has been filenames with 8-bit ASCII characters.
Due to the server now residing on Linux, such filenames generate an almost
endless amount of problems with various clients (probably when the server
ran Windows too, but not as much). Because of this, all filenames have now
been converted to 7-bit ASCII and everything should be downloadable again.
More to come...

Added two new formats: Picatune2 by BeRo and Klystrack by Kometbomb.
Trackers for these can be found in /software/trackers/Windows.

2012-11-24
----------
Don't believe him, it's all lies. :)
Actually l-o-t-s of stuff (read: updates) was going on just today.

Mega huge thank you to Ziphoid for the new playground!
And to Coma for providing me with the keys to enter the new home.
See you soon and do visit here more often, all. (deus-ex)

2012-11-20
----------
A sign of life! And nothing more right now.

2012-06-03
----------
The server is in the process of being migrated to a new home! It will
now be hosted by Ziphoid, upgrading his mirror to the new master server.
No updates will be possible for a while, but all data will remain
accessible throughout the migration. Uploads are disabled, but if you
want to send me your modules, feel free to mail them to me (as long as
the file isn't extremely large!) at daniel@modland.com. They will be
added to the collection as soon as the migration is finished.

My warmest thanks to Ziphoid for making this possible!

2012-01-30
----------
New format: DreamStation (.dss), a previously commercial synth tracker.
Once again supplied by Igor. Check www.audio-simulation.com for info.

2012-01-01
----------
What? No updates for almost a whole year? Well, nothing worth noting in
this file anyway. But today a bunch of new formats were added:
MegaStation, MegaStation MIDI, DarkWave Studio, MVS Tracker, Organya 2
and Monotone. I think all those came from Igor, so thanks to him.
I also added support for these formats to Modname. Unfortunately none
of them store any real names, so it's only detection support. But I also
fixed some bugs, so if you use Modname you should get v2.11 now.

2011-02-04
----------
New format: Athtune (.athtune), a script based synth format made by
Athaudia. More a sound generator than a tracker, it is currently (v0.1)
in the form of a Windows console program that converts a script to a
wave file. Thanks to Igor for supplying this oddity.

2010-10-31
----------
Suddenly! I released a new version of the module renamer. It's now a
standard Windows application instead of a vbscript. This, along with
some small improvements here and there, bumped the version number to
2.0. It requires .NET Framework and is a console application, so run
it in your console. A log is no longer written, so if you need to save
the output, just redirect it to a file. You'll find the program in
\pub\software\utilities\Windows\Modname. Be sure to mail me if you find
any bugs or problems.

2010-08-30
----------
New format: Sound Club (.sn). One of two formats supported by Sound Club,
created by Terminus/Bluemoon Interactive. The other format is simply
called Sound Club 2 (.sn2), until now erroneously called "SoundClub 95"
on Modland. Thanks to Igor for supplying all these modules.

2010-08-11
----------
New format: Aero Studio (.aero). A commercial tracker made by IoNeo,
similar to Reason/Buzz. A demo version of the tracker is available.

Lots of players and trackers for various platforms (but mostly Windows)
were added. All were uploaded by an anonymous person. Thanks!

2010-08-01
----------
New format: ArkosTracker (.aks), made by Targhan, along with:
New format: Starkos (.sks), made by the same guy. Both supplied by Flajs
(thanks!). I'll quote from the readme:

"Arkos Tracker is a freeware music software dedicated to the AY soundchip,
which can be found in 8-bit machines like Amstrad CPC, MSX, Spectrum,
Pentagon 128K and Atari ST. It runs on any Windows with the .Net framework
installed. No plan to converting it to MacOsX and Linux are schemed. Arkos
Tracker is born from the CPC tracker called "STarKos", which I also coded.
It retains most of its features, extends some, and will improve them in
future versions."

2010-06-17
----------
Thanks to Flajs for his various contributions.

2010-05-16
----------
Thanks to FJRC who uploaded his complete works (XM and MOD).

2010-04-19
----------
New format: Compoz (.cpz), a Soundblaster tracker for DOS from 1991,
created by John M. Coon. Also compatible with Creative Music File (Ad Lib).
Thanks to Pieknyman for supplying this one.

2010-03-10
----------
I reorganized the software areas (trackers and players). They are now
subfolders in a general "software" folder. In that folder there is now
also a new subfolder called "utilities". It will contain any module related
software that are neither trackers nor players. The first item in it is
my own module renaming script, written in vbscript. It should work in
Windows 2000 and later. If you have a bunch of misnamed modules that you
would prefer not to have to rename by hand, give it a try. It supports
a lot more formats than any other similar programs I have seen, and it
has logging and undo features. Please mail me if you find any bugs
or have ideas for improvement.

2010-02-27
----------
New format: Buzzic 2 (.buz2). There are now three separate Buzzic folders on
Modland since the format seems to be redesigned between every version. The
tracker is also available (trackers/Windows). Made by Stan/Rebels.

Removed format: Cinemaware. This shouldn't have been included since it's one
of those Sonix-like formats with external samples in a subdirectory.

2010-02-25
----------
New format: PlayerPro (.mad). Apparently, this is "the ultimate SoundTracker"!
And it's for MacOS! It's being developed by Madd the Sane, Antoine Rosset and
Sandro Bilbeisi, and compatible with MOD/S3M/XM/IT/UMX and its native MAD
format. Seems like you will have to download the source and compile it
yourself if you want to try this. More info can be found here:
http://playerpro.sourceforge.net/. Thanks to GPE for supplying these modules.

2010-02-24
----------
Thanks to Hardmoon who uploaded his complete XM works.

2010-01-04
----------
Happy new year! This is the decade in which I will turn 45. Horrible thought.

2009-09-01
----------
New format: ProTrekkr (.ptk), a format made by Franck Charlet, based on
NoiseTrekker by the late Arguru (who also made Psycle). It mixes samples
with software synthesis (303 emulation among other things). Various ports
of the tracker are available, along with a Winamp plugin. See this page
for more info: http://pagesperso-orange.fr/franck.charlet/protrekkr.html
ProTrekkr seems to have become the 300th format represented on Modland,
another little milestone in the wake of the recent one. (This of course
assumes that all Soundtracker derivatives are lumped together, as well
as all Ad Lib formats... but still)

2009-08-09
----------
Yesterday the collection passed another milestone; 400000 modules!
This happened while adding another bunch of Nintendo DS rips from Knurek.
I again extend my thanks to everyone who supports this neverending project.

2009-08-06
----------
New format: Beni Tracker (.pis), an Ad Lib format made by "one guy
from SPP" in 2003. Written in QuickBasic, which is cool and/or insane.
There is even a playroutine for inclusion in your own QB programs...

Otherwise: slow summer... as usual.

2009-06-07
----------
New format: Megatracker (.mgt). A sample-based tracker for Atari Falcon.
Thanks to Spot for digging this one up. It's playable in XMP, available
as a standalone player or as a Winamp plugin.

2009-04-28
----------
Thanks to Elijah who uploaded his complete works yesterday, including
some really great XM guitar tunes.

2009-04-21
----------
Thanks to all who have uploaded recently, specially to DJ Ice who
contributed his complete XM works. If you sometimes notice that modules
seem to be left in /upload for ages, then you're absolutely right.
Sorry for that. Some stuff just requires a bit of researching before
getting added to the collection... or I'm just way too lazy.
And if you upload something that doesn't get added, the reason is
almost always one of these: (1) It was already present (CRC match).
(2) It was corrupted (for most formats: unplayable in XMPlay/Delix).
(3) It wasn't a module (for example: streamed formats or some
other irrelevant file type).

2009-03-22
----------
New format: TCB Tracker (.tcb)

An Atari ST format created by AN Cool. Thanks to Wanted Team and
Muerto for supplying it.

2009-02-12
----------
The number of modules will probably decrease (very) slightly over
the next days, since I'll get rid of a bunch of modules that are
faulty in various ways. If you have a working version of a module
that show up as deleted in the logs, please upload it. Thanks to
Buzz for his help with this.

2009-01-25
----------
New format: Real Tracker (.rtm)

A DOS based tracker created by Arnaud Hasenfratz, distributed as
shareware. Last version made in 1997. Some info can be found here:
www.sonicspot.com/realtracker/realtracker.html

2009-01-18
----------
I'm happy to announce that the whole collection (a snapshot of it as
it looked a few days ago) is now available for download as a torrent.
For anyone planning on downloading everything on Modland, this should
definitely be the most convenient way to do it, and probably the
fastest too, as soon as the torrent gets more seeders. So if you have
the disk space, feel free to help out. Pick up the torrent at:
http://www.mininova.org/tor/2186225. Thanks a lot to Wacko for
setting this up.

2008-11-27
----------
New format: SunVox (.sunvox)

A new, minimalistic tracker based on modular synths, created by
NightRadio. See this page for more info: www.warmplace.ru/soft/sunvox/
Trackers for various systems are available.

The last months have been somewhat inactive with uploads sitting in
/upload forever... sorry! It's a combination of general laziness and
putting too much time on other stuff.

2008-10-08
----------
New format: GT Game Systems (.dux)

This format, properly called "G&T Game Systems", but with the ampersand
left out for technical reasons, was only used in the game Carver.
The original creator is unknown. These are all known modules. An Eagle-
player is available. Thanks to Wanted Team (and Muerto) for this one.

2008-08-19
----------
New format: Sam Coupe COP (.cop)
New format: Sam Coupe SNG (.sng)

Music from the Sam Coupé computer. The difference between the two formats
is unknown. There seems to be no player available yet. Thanks to Spot
for these modules.

2008-08-09
----------
Today I'm very happy to present a new web interface for Modland, created
by Buzz and hosted at Exotica! This interface will make it much easier
(or rather: at all possible) to find exactly what you're looking for.
All kinds of searches can be made: find everything by a certain musician
(in all format folders), all PlaySID modules beginning with "bez" (there
are two) or whatever. Many thanks to Buzz for this ever-requested tool,
which I have already found great use for myself. Check it out here:
www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/Special:Modland or simply: www.modland.com

2008-07-17
----------
Sorry for the chronically slow updating. The recent crash didn't help either.
But now I've begun going through the really old stuff in /upload. Among
today's additions were some TFM Music Maker stuff, supplied by Spot (thanks!).
That folder now contains some .tfd files along with the .tfe ones. Some
clarification could be in order: the difference is that the .tfe suffix
designates a true module, editable in the tracker, while .tfd is a register
dump from the virtual sound chips emulated by the tracker. There is yet
another suffix, .tfc, which is also a register dump, but compressed.
The latter two formats will only be present on Modland in lack of a .tfe
version of a module. All three formats are playable by the TFM plugin for
Winamp (or XMPlay).

2008-06-26
----------
Last week, June 18th, Modland's system disk called it a day and broke down
unrecoverably. No modules or other important data was lost, but the system
was gone. After digging out and restoring an old ghost image I realised that
I made that image from the old server and never created a new one when
replacing the hardware. Hours later I had to leave for a week's vacation.
Once again a crash with incredibly bad timing. I hastily reinstalled the
machine on a new disk and set up VNC, planning to do the rest remotely.
The next day I connected to the server and got to work... and the session
crashed after ten minutes, and the machine stayed unresponsive. Nothing
more could be done. A few hours ago I got back home and could reboot the
ill-fated server. For now it seems to be working. Mail and ftp is up, but
some stuff still need to be restored (virtual directories, scheduled jobs,
rsync etc). Hopefully things will be back to normal some time tomorrow.
After that I will immediately create a new ghost image of the system disk...

2008-05-09
----------
Thanks to Photon/Phenomena for uploading a fine bunch of his own old
Noise/Protracker antiques. Read his message in /documents/artist_comments!

2008-04-29
----------
New format: Johannes Bjerregård Module (.jbm). This is an Ad Lib format
created by J. B. There is also a DOS player for it in the players area.

Fans of the V2 format may have missed that KB finally got around to update
the player plugin to v1.5! This means that several V2M modules that were
unhandled by the last version now are playable. Thanks to KB for his work
with this great format.

2008-04-26
----------
It's M.A.D. - Mirror Awareness Day! Sorry for the interruption, but
something had to be done. Modland has three mirrors, all considerably
faster than the main server. Use them for downloading. See mirrors.txt.

2008-04-21
----------
Just a quick notice: with last night's additions, the collection passed
70 GB! It now consists of 75251499566 bytes of delicious music! That makes
the average size of a module just over 200 KB.

2008-03-27
----------
The latest months have seen an increase in mass downloading, typically
the whole Fasttracker 2 area, or the whole collection. That's all fine,
but use the mirrors! You will get the modules much faster. The main
server's already slow connection is constantly maxed out by people
trying to drink a lake through a straw, and since probably very few of
them read this file, other means to get their attention will probably
have to be used soon, since this is starting to become a problem.

2008-03-11
----------
New format: Spectrum Sound Tracker 1.3 (.st13). The only thing I know about
this format is that the string "SOUND TRACKER v1.3" can be found on pos. 7
in the modules.

2008-02-17
----------
New format: SVAr Tracker (.svar). A russian tracker for Windows where the
modules are PKZip archives (like Renoise 1.8). The tracker supports VST,
VSTi and DirectX DMO plug-ins and is able to load several other formats
(IT, XM, S3M, MOD etc). SVAr Tracker is a commercial product, but was
recently made available for free (without limitations) for non-commercial use.

2008-01-29
----------
A new Winamp plugin (XMPlay compatible) for Nintendo DS Sound Format
has emerged, and it seems to be much faster than the other one, at
least on my system. Both are in the plugin folder, this new one is
called in_Vio2SF. Thanks to an anonymous 2ch user for creating it
and to Knurek for supplying it.

2008-01-26
----------
New format: Buzzic (.buz). A format made by Andrey Stepanov,
specially intended for creating music for 4k intros. The tracker,
available in /pub/trackers/Windows/, requires .NET framework 1.1.

2008-01-20
----------
New format: Nintendo DS Sound Format (.2sf, .mini2sf)
Made by Unknownfile, based on the works of Neill Corlett.
The plugin, called "Highly Whatever" (in_2sf), is still in its early
stages and this is specially noticeable in XMPlay, where skipping is
quite severe. In Winamp, many songs can be played without skipping,
but not all. Furthermore the plugin puts an ugly console box on screen,
which if closed also closes the host application. But I'm sure these
bugs will be ironed out in coming versions. Thanks to Unknownfile for
this format which I have looked forward to for over a year, and thanks
to Knurek for supplying the rips.

2008-01-14
----------
Thanks to Rave-N who uploaded a bunch of modules (MOD, XM, IT, S3M) by
himself, George and Madbit. All from Argentina, which bumped that
country 7 places on the "artist homeland toplist" (check the artist list).

2008-01-13
----------
New format: Dirk Bialluch (tpu., smp.), created by the same-named guy
for the game Time Lock. Thanks to Wanted Team and Muerto for this one.
An Eagleplayer is available.

2008-01-04
----------
It's a new year again! What happened to the last one?
Various additions have been made the last month, pushing the collection
past 350000. Thanks to everyone who have contributed, specially to
Pitch/Nemol who uploaded his old Protracker modules and revealed that
his most wellknown module, the one from "Boundless void", is usually
credited to "Picca" due to the almost unreadable credits in the demo...
Modland may now be the first module archive with this module correctly
credited. :)

2007-11-24
----------
New format: WonderSwan (.wsr), music from the handheld console of the
same name. Thanks to Knurek for supplying it. A plugin for Winamp
(or XMPlay) is available.

2007-11-12
----------
The AUD format had to go since it's simply ADPCM compressed streams
and thus belongs on Modland about as much as MP3's. I actually knew
this since the format was up for possible inclusion last summer,
but that info was lost from my mind somehow. Luckily there is a
co-admin around here who remembers such things.

2007-11-11
----------
The module storage disk seems to have crashed, or at least lost its
filesystem. I'll try to fix it as soon as possible. Use the mirrors
until then.

Update at 23.42: The disk is fixed (as fixed as possible, it still
needs replacing. Donate!) and the modules are pouring in from the
backups. Everything should be back to normal within a couple of hours.

2007-11-10
----------
New format: AUD (.aud), a Westwood-internal format used in some of
their games (Command & Conquer with its expansions and Dune 2000
are known). The creator of the format and the modules is unknown.
A Winamp plugin made by Martin Moško is available.

2007-11-08
----------
New format: AXS (.axs), a synth/sample based tracker created by
Guido de Haan and Robert Morcus. It's a Windows program but seems to
rely quite a lot on its DOS legacy, so you'll have to edit the .ini
file to get any sound out of it. Check the docs. The tracker and
a Winamp plugin are available.

EDIT: Alternately you could try clicking on that ol' setup button at
the bottom of the tracker screen. :) Just scroll down by mouse or press
F5/F6, or resize the window to display the entire tracker. (dx)

2007-11-05
----------
Thanks to PST! for uploading all his OctaMED MMD3 works.

2007-11-04
----------
New format: Anders Oland (.hot). Created by Anders Oland for the game
Prime Mover. Thanks to Wanted Team for the player (EP) and modules,
and to Muerto for supplying them. Note that the guy's surname really
is Øland, but for various reasons format folder names shouldn't include
characters outside 7-bit ASCII. It's often written Oland or 0land.

2007-10-14
----------
New format: Synder SNG-Player (.sng)
New format: Synder SNG-Player Stereo (.sng)

Predecessor format of the Synder Tracker sng-module which utilizes an
early version of DaNyL's synthesizer. Synder SNG-Player modules are not
compatible with the current Synder Tracker format and cannot be loaded
into the tracker. The Synder SNG-Player application bundled with all
available modules can be accessed from our Windows player directory.

2007-10-06
----------
New format: MultiMedia Sound (.mms). This format is closely related to
SoundFX and was created by the same team (Christian Haller, Christian
A. Weber and Rene Straub). Players that are able to play SoundFX can
likely handle this format as well (at least Oldsk00l does). Thanks to
Wanted Team for the modules and to Muerto for keeping an eye out.

2007-10-03
----------
New format: Saturn Sound Format (.ssf, .minissf)
New format: Dreamcast Sound Format (.dsf, .minidsf)

As an old Sega fan I have been waiting for these for quite a while.
As can be guessed from their names, these formats are derivatives of
Playstation Sound Format and made by Neill Corlett. Both are playable
through the Winamp plugin Highly Theoretical (in_ssf), which like the
other PSF variants work in XMPlay. Thanks to Neill for his work with
these formats and to Knurek for the SSF sets.

2007-09-09
----------
Some news for you who are interested in the lists of artists and
group abbreviations: these are now replaced by a single Excel workbook
which also contains a page where some statistics and other metainfo
will be placed. This workbook will be much easier to maintain than
the old lists, where data sometimes had to be left out for the fields
to fit their narrow, fixed width. Hopefully you won't have any problems
finding an Excel viewer for your system. The old text lists are still
online (in /documents/nostalgia/lists) but won't be updated anymore.
Feel free to supply any information you may have that could make the
list more complete, or if you have any interesting ideas for the
statistics page.

2007-09-07
----------
New format: Tunefish (.tf2i, .tf2m). A format created by Snej and
BrainSlayer of Brain Control for their 64k intros. Each module is
separated into two files for patterns and samples. Another find
by Muerto. No known player exists yet.

2007-08-28
----------
New format: Sidplayer (.mus). I'm not sure of the origins of this one,
but it's the third C64 format (after PlaySID and RealSID) supported by
Pieknyman's SID plugin for XMPlay. Supplied by Muerto. Thanks!

New format: Stereo Sidplayer (.mus, .str). The stereo complement to
the above format. Each module consists of two files, and the .mus files
differ from their mono counterparts and are (often) not playable (yet)
by the mentioned plugin.

2007-08-23
----------
New format: MVX Module (.mvm). This format is based on a set of Buzz
plugins called MVX and was created by Gargaj for his demos. There doesn't
exist any standalone player for this format yet. Thanks to Muerto for
supplying this one.

2007-08-21
----------
Changed the name of VSS to its proper name "Voodoo Supreme Synthesizer".

2007-08-20
----------
New format: Startrekker AM (.mod, .nt). I have confused myself over this
format for a long time. It's the free version of Audiosculpture, and was
written by Exolon of Fairlight in the dawn of time. The .mod file looks
like an ordinary Protracker module, but with FLT4 instead of the M.K.
identifier. There is also an eight channel variant with FLT8. The .mod
files are accompanied by a smaller file with the same name (including
.mod) and the extension .nt or .as. As they seem interchangeable I have
chosen .nt for all files. I'm not sure of the .nt file's function.
Some .mod files lacking their .nt counterpart will play fine, some won't.
There are a bunch of such modules in the Protracker folder, I have left
them there since there is no problem playing them with a normal Protracker
player (as long as it doesn't get upset about the "FLT4" string).
Thanks to Asle and Pieknyman for the modules and info.

2007-08-19

In cooperation with Exotica I proudly present: Modland's third mirror.
It's located at aero.exotica.org.uk/mirrors/modland. Thanks to Buzz
for setting it up.

2007-08-14
----------
New format: Synder (.sng). A phase distortion synth tracker for Windows
made by DaNyL. Found this one on VORC.

2007-08-10
----------
New format: Super Nintendo Sound Format (.minisnsf, .snsflib).
Another variation of PSF, this time for SNES music. This format is
focused on music from games that use the main CPU for sound mixing,
something that the SPC format doesn't allow, but works for normal SNES
music as well. It was made by Caitsith2 and supplied by Knurek.
A Winamp plugin has been added, which (of course) works in XMPlay.

2007-08-03
----------
I have added quite a bunch of vintage players and trackers, supplied
by Svenzzon an age ago. Thanks!

2007-07-27
----------
New feature: you will now find a folder called playlists under /pub.
It will contain m3u playlists which link to the amigascne mirror. This
will be a nice way to discover new favourites among the masses of modules.
Thanks to Knurek and Pieknyman for this idea. Feel free to contribute with
your own playlists. Look at the existing ones to find out how the URL's
should look.

2007-07-25
----------
New format: TFMX ST (.mdat, .smpl). Atari ST version of TFMX, also made
by Chris Huelsbeck and Rudolf Stember. Since this format uses the ST's
sound chip, many .mdat files are not accompanied by a .smpl file.
Thanks to Wanted Team and Muerto for this one.

2007-07-14
----------
Lots of added DOS trackers today, thanks to Pieknyman (of Delix fame).

2007-07-03
----------
New format: BeroTracker (.brt), a very nice tracker from Germany. It
supports multiple input formats (BRT, MOD, XM, IT, S3M, MTM, MT2, IMF,
DMF, STM, 669, OKT, WOW, MID), written by the very skilled BeRo. (dx :)

2007-06-17
----------
Modland now has a second mirror! It's located at modland.ziphoid.com
and is really fast, so try it out! If you have problems connecting to it,
check your firewall settings. I had some trouble with my own...
Thanks to Ziphoid for putting this mirror online. There was quite a lot
of hard work involved...

2007-06-14
----------
New format: TSS (.tss, .tsd). A japanese format where the modules are plain
text files in MML. The .tsd format is a compiled version. A DOS player and
a Winamp plugin (which works with XMPlay, like most other Winamp plugins)
are available. Supplied by Knurek.

2007-06-10
----------
Thanks to Graa, Myth, Joule and Lyzzard who all supplied more of their own
stuff today. Check the changelog tomorrow to see what went where.

2007-06-08
----------
New magazine scan: SHN #4/86.

2007-05-31
----------
New magazine scan: SHN #7/90.

2007-05-30
----------
Renamed the two Vortex formats to be consistent with the rest of the
Spectrum formats. I also seem to have a bunch of missorted Spectrum stuff,
which I'm right now trying to fix. I blame the inconsistent suffixes...

2007-05-20
----------
New format: BoyScout (.bsf). A new format by Chrutta that emulates the
sound chip of Gameboy Advance and can be played on the real hardware.
A tracker is available. More info at www.pidelipom.com/boyscout/.
Thanks to Mr. Eeh for supplying this one.

2007-05-05
----------
New format: Lionheart (.lion). Not much is known about this format, but it
seems to be based on Sonic Arranger without the synth part. Probably only
used in the game with the same name.

New format: Special FX ST (.doda). From games using Special FX on Atari ST.
All known modules are present.

Both formats were created by Don Adan and uploaded by Muerto. Thanks both.
Also thanks to Novus, Pailes and the regular guys for their contributions
the last weeks.

2007-05-04
----------
New format: Organya (.org). Another format by Pixel, the guy who created
Piston Collage. All known modules are from his game Cave Story (Doukutsu),
but since he has made the tracker public, other tunes are bound to show up.

New format: Shroom (.sho). A format created by Strobe/Titan that contains
music from Mario Paint (for SNES) savestates! Aren't the formats getting
more and more wonderfully obscure? :) No ShroomTracker exists yet, but
modules can be made using a SNES emulator with the appropriate ROM and
ShroomTool. More info at http://shroom.powerhuhn.net/

Both Organya and Shroom were supplied by Mr. Eeh. Thanks!

I changed the names of two formats that contained ampersands. Those pesky
characters screwed up the backup scripts. The formats are now named
"Digital Sonix And Chrome" and "Digital Sound And Music Interface".

2007-04-28
----------
I sometimes get mail from people at o2.pl. These are often impossible to
answer, since o2.pl's mail servers just respond "450 Please try later".
The latest one was today - Marcin, please mail me from another address.
I recommend people using this "o2" service to get a better mail host.

2007-04-25
----------
New format: TFM Music Maker (.tfe). Not much is known about this format
since the documentation is all in russian. You'll find the tracker under
/pub/trackers/windows. Thanks to the anonymous guy who uploaded it and
deus-ex who improved the package.

Further information about the TFM Music Maker can be found here:
http://www.spritesmind.net/_GenDev/forum/viewtopic.php?t=125

2007-04-11
----------
Yesterday, another milestone was passed as Modland hit 300000 modules!
I bow down to everyone who helped take the collection this far, and hope
you will hang on a while longer. There are still unarchived ones out there,
and we need to catch'em all! :)

2007-03-26
----------
Just a quick notice: the server now supports SSL, for that extra-secure
module leeching.

2007-03-25
----------
Knurek has uploaded vast amounts of new console rips, mainly PSF and USF,
pushing the collection past 60 GB! Thanks Knurek! At this moment there are
64921281831 bytes of delicious music on the server. All these new rips are
first versions, untimed and untagged, and mostly credited to "unknown",
but they all sound as they should.

2007-03-18
----------
New format: Quartet ST (qts., smp.)
New format: Quartet PSG (.sqt)

These Atari formats were unearthed by Muerto. Thanks!

2007-03-11
----------
I would like to welcome deus-ex as cosysop of Modland. He has been
a great supplier of numerous new formats and updates during the last
two years, so it's with pleasure I now give him the key to the
janitor's closet. :)

Welcome aboard, deus-ex!

2007-03-07
----------
All services have now been running on the new server for a few days,
and as far as I can tell, everything works as expected. But I have
probably missed something, so be sure to mail me if you notice
anything out of the ordinary.

2007-02-25
----------
I have copied all data from the old server to the new one. No more
updates will be made until the new server is online and the old one
is retired. I will test all services and applications during the next
week, and I'll switch back and forth between the servers, so expect
some weirdness. Uploading during this period will be possible but
nothing will be added until after the transition is finished.

2007-02-24
----------
New format: SoundFX 2 (.sfx2), supplied by Muerto. Thanks!

I'm currently in the process of preparing the new server for Modland.
The transition will maybe not be made this weekend, but the server might
still be taken offline now and then during today and tomorrow.

2007-01-26
----------
New format: Renoise 1.8 (.xrns). From v1.8 of Renoise, the module format
has changed completely. The files are now pkzip archives including the
samples separately and the pattern data and other info as an xml-formatted
file. Thanks to deus-ex for supplying it.

2007-01-19
----------
Apart from a bunch of new stuff (mostly XM/IT) from deus-ex (thanks!),
another little addition was made today: a file called server_stats.txt
in the root dir. It's updated every night and for now it only contains
some download totals for the last 24 hours. I'll add more numbers to it
later, for the enjoyment of myself and other statistics nerds.

2007-01-18
----------
New format: FamiTracker (.ftm). A NES tracker made by jsr. Apart from its
native format, it's also capable of exporting to NSF. Found this one while
surfing around aimlessly.

2007-01-06
----------
And suddenly it's 2007! Lots of stuff to add, thanks to everyone who has
uploaded.

2006-12-21
----------
Time to go home over the holidays. No updates for two weeks. Merry christmas!

2006-12-15
----------
New format: Zoundmonitor (.sng). Found this Amiga tracker and a bunch of
example modules in an old archive. Made by Dave Mentos.

2006-12-10
----------
New format: HivelyTracker (.hvl). A new Amiga tracker by Xeron/Iris and
Spot/Up Rough. Made to be a sort of sequel to AHX on modern Amiga hardware.
No player other than the tracker (which requires AmigaOS 4.0 and can be found
in the tracker section) exists yet. Thanks to Spot for the heads-UP! :)

New format: Picatune (.smufi). A new format by BeRo where the modules are XML-
formatted textfiles which can be rendered into small executables suitable for
4k intros. I found out about this format when Lyzzard uploaded one of his own
modules, so thanks to him for that. I added Picatune in the tracker section,
but found no standalone player for it.

2006-12-03
----------
Today a bunch of PlaySID additions from deus-ex, who also added lots of info
to the author list and group abbreviations list. Thanks!

2006-11-30
----------
New format: MCMD (.mcmd), supplied by Asle (thanks!). I haven't been able
to find much info about this, only that it probably is some converted
Hippel format. Other info says it's a TFMX clone. Others a Protracker clone...

As it became increasingly complicated to make updates to Video Game Music,
I reorganized the folder. It's now sorted on platform before composer.
Also added many new VGM modules, mostly Sega Master System ones. Thanks to
Knurek for supplying them and to the guys at www.smspower.org for creating
them (and indeed the format itself).

2006-11-28
----------
Decided to add SHN (Svenska Hemdatornytt) to the magazine scanning project.
Now it will take twice as long to finish, and it's still only of interest
to swedes. All scans can be found in /pub/documents/nostalgia, and I just
added SHN #9/89.

2006-11-23
----------
I'm happy to announce that Modland now has a mirror at amigascne.org.
The mirror is updated daily and has considerably better bandwidth, so... use it!
You'll find it at ftp://ftp.amigascne.org/mirrors/ftp.modland.com
Thanks to Cygnus for making this possible!

2006-11-21
----------
The server was down for six hours due to a BSOD at 5.54 this morning.

2006-11-18
----------
Knurek has ripped and compiled a bunch of sets of music from Nintendo DS games.
The music is in its native MIDI/soundfont format (and a bunch of OGGs) which I
probably won't add to Modland since I don't think MIDI stuff belong here.
I suspect that an emulated NDS format will emerge in a not too distant future.
Until then, you can find Knurek's NDS sets in the /temp dir. I recommend that
you use XMPlay with the MIDI/archive plugins to play them. Thanks to Knurek for
his work with this!

2006-10-24
----------
deus-ex did a great job with cleaning up the format documentation folder
(/pub/documents/format_documentation). The files were updated where
possible and given more accurate names, and lots of new ones were added.

2006-10-20
----------
Two new formats today! Thanks to Knurek and deus-ex for those.

New format: Piston Collage (.ptcop, .pttune, .org, .pmd). A new japanese
tracker which mixes samples and FM synth, made by Pixel (homepage here:
http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA022293/) and supplied by Knurek. As you
will find, most of the filenames are very nondescript. I also had to rename
some of them to variations of "noname" because they consisted of unicoded
japanese characters which would confuse the server. I'm not sure of the
relationship between the various file types, but according to Knurek the
ptcop modules are editable in the tracker while the pttune ones are not.
As for org and pmd, nothing is known. There are two versions of the tracker
in the tracker section, but neither has any english documentation.

New format: Noisetrekker (.ntk). The predecessor of Renoise. There are two
subformats, one used in Noisetrekker v1.0/2.0 where the modules begin with
"TWNNSNG2". This format uses zlib compression. From v3.0 the modules begin
with "NTK21" and use no compression. All Noisetrekker modules currently
present on Modland are of the older format. Supplied by deus-ex.
2006-10-09
----------
New format: MikMod UNITRK (.uni). A library format used by MikMod, supplied
by deus-ex.

The server was down for four hours last night due to a power failure which
took out half of Gothenburg, and my area seems to be at the bottom of the
priority list...

Because of ever-increasing amounts of spam clogging the mail server, it is now
running Spam Assassin (believe it or not, I had no filtration at all before).
I'm still tweaking around with the ruleset, so if you mail me and get no answer
it's very probable that your mail was misdetected as spam. Rewrite and resend
it or put a message in the upload dir...

2006-10-07
----------
New format: Liquid Tracker (.liq), another find by deus-ex. Only two modules
so far, and they are of different versions (one begins with "Liquid Module",
the other with "NO"). Maybe I will split these up later. There is a tracker
in /pub/trackers/DOS/ that handles both formats. Thanks to deus-ex for this
and all the other additions in the trackers and players sections the last days.

2006-10-05
----------
New format: AND XSynth (.amx). A softsynth developed by AND
(http://and.intercon.ru), so far only one module in the collection, and it
may very well be the only one in existence since it was custom-ripped by
deus-ex (thanks!). There is no known player.

2006-09-19
----------
New format: SBStudio (.pac). A DOS-based tracker with Soundblaster and
GUS support, made by Henning Hellström. More info here:
www.sonicspot.com/sbstudio/sbstudio.html. Thanks to WildCoder for this find.

2006-09-18
----------
Revived the DMZ scanning project after three months on ice. Added the
april issue of 1995 (I haven't figured out what number it had).

2006-09-15
----------
Slow updating for a while, and as usual it's because of an insane amount
of things to do at work. Thanks to Phoenix for supplying lots of his own
modules, and correcting the mixups in the Phoenix folders. Thanks also to
Zeg, Asle, Knurek and deus-ex for their continuing support. Very appreciated.

2006-08-24
----------
Today we have lots of new V2 stuff from Quickyman and Dafunk, mostly from
their coop-musicdisk Synthezze (pouet.net/prod.php?which=25889).
Thanks a lot to Quickyman for supplying these modules!

2006-08-20
----------
Big updates in Playstation Sound Format by Knurek, and in SNDH by deus-ex.
Thanks!

2006-08-18
----------
Thanks to Krister Fundin who uploaded a bunch of new Musicline Editor modules
by himself! He also supplied author info for most of the unknown ones.

2006-08-17
----------
New format: The 0ok Amazing Synth Tracker (.t0ast). A softsynth tracker made
by BeRo/Farbrausch. Minimalistic and cool stuff, supplied by... yes! deus-ex!
The tracker package is in /pub/trackers/windows. Yes, the first one there...
I have been promising for too long to sort out the trackers. This will mark
the starting point for that.

2006-08-12
----------
New format: Beaver Sweeper (.gtk). A realtime softsynth and tracker made by
Gnilk, Steffo and Zyrax. Supplied by deus-ex of course... You'll find the
tracker and player in /pub/players/windows.

2006-08-05
----------
New format: Digital/FM Music (.670). Supplied by deus-ex, and I'll
just paste in his introduction of the format here below. You will find the
demos and standalone player in /pub/players/msdos/Digital-FM Music.

> This one you'll find NOWHERE on the web as there was no tracker available
> supporting this format. As the name states this format supports both Digital
> (4 channels) and FM (9 channels) music, simultaneously.
>
> Excerpt from rbgdemo2.doc:

> On popular demand of the scene a musicplayer 'muszik.exe' was released later on

Crown of AMP has accused me of "ripping off" AMP's list of composers.
This is a lie. The list was made from my own old swapping lists which
were written entirely by myself. It was then contributed to by several
people and by myself, going through all modules and extracting author
information (which is a gigantic task, I'm only at "C" of Protracker
so far...). I wouldn't even want to include AMP's information in my
lists, as it is full of errors which Crown has never been inclined to
fix. Crown is a pitiful fool, and I feel sorry for the other AMP
staffers, because they are all good people. It gives me some
satisfaction though that Crown feels threatened enough to send me his
pathetic complaints. I'm sure he would prefer if there were no online
module collections at all except for AMP. I'm happy to make Crown
dissatisfied also in this regard.

2006-07-19
----------
I'm afraid the updating has been going slowly for a while. The problem
is that my brain melted while trying to finish the changelog script.
There has also been too much to do at work... as usual.

2006-07-02
----------
From now on the addlogs will be changelogs instead. I'm experimenting
with a new format for the logs which will include deleted and changed
files and not only added ones. It's not finished yet, so files that
are moved or renamed for now show up both as deleted and added...

2006-07-01
----------
There was a lengthy (close to 8 hours) outage friday night.
ISP problems... but at least they fixed it before the weekend.

Lots of Playstation Sound Format additions today, thanks to Knurek.

2006-06-20
----------
New format: Spectrum Pro Sound Maker (.psm)
New format: Spectrum Sound Tracker Pro (.stp)
These formats were included when Knurek uploaded a new collection
of Spectrum music. I already had a Spectrum Sound Tracker Pro folder,
but all modules in it are named .stp2. I haven't found any specifics
on what differs between these, but the files look very different.
I decided to rename the current folder to Spectrum Sound Tracker Pro 2.

2006-06-12
----------
Among today's updates is the addition of several entries in the author
and group lists. Thanks to deus-ex for those.

2006-06-11
----------
Sorry for the outages tonight. After some patching of the server, the
firewall didn't want to play along... should be OK now though.

2006-06-10
----------
Changed name of "Nintendo NSF" to "Nintendo Sound Format", as it should
have been named from the beginning. I've also begun phasing out the
Megadrive GYM format (as I talked about doing in november...) by deleting
all GYM sets that have a VGZ counterpart in the Video Game Music folder.
This will make the total module count drop a little...

2006-06-05
----------
Thanks to deus-ex who sorted out the AdLib Tracker 2 folder. This format
has 11(!) subformats, of which 1-8 is supported by AdPlug for Winamp,
and 9-11 only by the tracker itself. It makes sense to separate these,
at least until all subformats are supported by AdPlug.

2006-06-01
----------
Today the book "Otaku Sweden Go Go! - en bok om svensk blip blop-musik"
(a book on swedish blip blop music) was released. It features interviews
with a number of notable swedish chip musicians, for example Dubmood,
Maktone, Goto80 - and myself! :) It's very nicely produced, upwards of
200 pages, all in swedish. Anyone who would like to order a copy or
get more info should contact the author at jens.ryden@berghs.se.

2006-05-28
----------
Some more replacements from Asle today, and a bunch of console
additions from Knurek, and some Ad Lib and other stuff from deus-ex.
Thanks all!

2006-05-15
----------
Thanks to Quickyman, who uploaded a new batch of his homecooked
V2-modules! And to Asle who replaced another bunch of oldschool
modules with their original versions (or as close as possible).

2006-05-14
----------
According to the addlogs, 10990 modules have been added today!
Unfortunately that's not really the case... but a lot of console music
(SPC, VGM and PSF) has been updated with fresher rips and/or moved to
the right composer folders. All this thanks to your console king Knurek.

2006-05-06
----------
The HES folder is now much better sorted, thanks to Kaminari who made
m3u's with author info for a lot of the modules, and Knurek of course
who supplied it all. I'll put the m3u's online too as soon as I've
checked them all for matching filenames.

2006-04-30
----------
New feature! You will now find a collection of the best modules
in /pub/favourites. These modules are the most classic, the coolest,
the most representative of the scene. Some of the choices may surprise
you or even annoy you, but they are my favourites and only top quality
(and I hope you will forgive if the selection is somewhat chip-centered).
Now you (and I too) can quickly and easily get a small but great
collection of modules, for listening at work for example.
This is a first draft, and in its current state the collection contains
1000 modules. No C64 music yet, and no console formats either. I'll go
through those later. I have probably missed lots of music which deserves
to be included (specially among the PC formats), so just mail me if you
have any suggestions. But my opinion is final - no mercy! :)

2006-04-20
----------
New format: Ken's Digital Music (*.kdm). A format made by Ken Silverman
and supplied by deus-ex. The file waves.kwv needs to be in the same
folder as the modules. Added a winamp plugin to the players section.

2006-04-13
----------
Sorry, but the updating is still pretty much on hold. I'm currently
working out of town, and that will continue for another two weeks.

2006-03-17
----------
Few updates the last month... I've had too much other stuff to do,
but the situation should improve shortly...

2006-02-17
----------
New format: Pollytracker (mod.). A sample-based C64 tracker made by
Heatbeat. Strangely enough, the modules are named mod.* (the format
is nothing like Soundtracker though). As I don't know what else to
name them, I'll leave them with that naming standard for now...
Thanks to Spot for supplying the modules!

2006-02-14
----------
Thanks to Krister Fundin who uploaded his complete works in Musicline
Editor - 550 modules! This pushes the collection past 250.000!

2006-02-10
----------
Started a new side project that may be of some interest to swedish
Amiga fans: I'll scan and put online all issues of Datormagazin,
the classic swedish Amiga/C64 magazine. Find them (only one so far)
in /pub/documents/nostalgia/dmz-scans. I realize that an ftp site
may not be the best medium for such a collection. Maybe someone with
some gigs of webspace would like to host it when it's ready? Mail me...

2006-02-05
----------
Deus-ex (and myself :) made quite a bit of updating of the author list.
Added a bunch of Knurek's latest console uploads. Also thanks to
Soft Maniac who uploaded more of his own XM and V2 works.
Modland now has 103 V2 modules online, whereof none anonymous!

2006-01-28
----------
If a bit of shameless self-promotion is allowed, you may want to check
out the newest additions to my own folder: /protracker/coma
Sort on dates to get the new ones. Avoid if you dislike chiptunes. :)

2006-01-12
----------
Quite a lot of additions the last days, for which we have the usual gang
to thank, and some anonymous uploaders too. I've also continued working
on the author list. A lot of corrections get done while writing it...

Note! If you are into weird japanese formats (as I'm sure you are),
be sure to check out Knurek's Hoot Archive at snesmusic.org/hoot/.

2006-01-11
----------
Finished adding the format descriptions. Thanks a lot to Deus-ex for
collecting them all, and to the original authors of course. If you have
any other docs like this, please upload them!

2006-01-10
----------
New format: Gameboy Sound System GBR (.gbr). Knurek supplied two modules
of this format, which is similar to the much more common GBS format.
I haven't found any info on how they differ, but the GBR files begin with
GBRF while GBS ones begin with GBS. Players for GBS seem to handle GBR
without problems. While adding this format I renamed the GBS folder from
Nintendo GBS to its real name, Gameboy Sound System.

I've also added several format description files (in /pub/documents),
all supplied by Deus-ex. More coming up tomorrow...

2006-01-07
----------
I'm working on the author list. For starters I'm using data from my
really old module list from my days of swapping. The list, dug out from
dh0: of my half-broken A1200, now resides in /pub/documents/nostalgia...

Update! You will now find a first draft of the author list in
/pub/documents. Don't trust it too much as many corrections and additions
will be made to it. But it's a start. The format of the list is, I hope,
self-explanatory. There are five fields per line; handle, previous handles,
real name, country and groups. The present, last or most important group
is mentioned first. Find any errors? Mail me!

2006-01-06
----------
I've received two requests: to include file hashes in the module list
and to maintain a list of author names and aliases. I'll implement both of
these as soon as possible. That list may take some time to compile though...

Update! Now you will find a list of all modules and their MD5-hashes
in /pub/documents, updated each morning. Since the list is quite large,
it is archived with rar just like the regular allmods list.

2006-01-01
----------
It's 2006 already! Happy new year and thanks to all who have uploaded.
I'll be sorting out the new additions in the next few days.

2005-12-04
----------
New format: Ben Daglish SID (.bds)

2005-12-03
----------
Added a big bunch of NSF modules supplied by Knurek. Thanks!

2005-12-01
----------
Remade the VGM folder again. Now the VGZ's are packed with gzip (correct)
instead of pkzip (wrong). Also implemented even more corrections from
Asle (thanks!).

2005-11-30
----------
Asle fixed the Kris Hatlelid folder. As the playroutines for each set of
modules (if one is needed) must be named "songplay", the sets have their
own folders as needed to avoid clashes.

2005-11-27
----------
A bunch of modules by "unknown composer" of various formats were
unanonymized by Asle. Thanks! Asle also pointed out that the Kris Hatlelid
folder is faulty - every module should have its own playroutine as an
external file, now there was only one for all modules. I removed them all
until I can get working versions of these tunes.

2005-11-25
----------
I will soon be adding a lot of Sega Megadrive music in the VGM (Video Game
Music) folder, while phasing out the older and less accurate GYM format.
While doing this I will probably convert the whole folder to VGZ (zipped
VGM) as the file sizes easily get out of hand otherwise... this was the
case also for GYM, but that format used internal compression. The file
sizes have gone down considerably with the latest VGM version, though.

You will probably find some tunes duplicated in both folders while I'm
working on this. Thanks to Knurek for supplying these new VGM's!

Thanks to Quickyman02 for uploading more of his great V2M modules!
(and pointing me in the direction of more V2M stuff)

2005-11-24
----------
Implemented the banlist (in the documents folder) and deleted the
persons in question. I've only included such module thieves I've found
out myself, except for K-Styles, who seems to be a rather special case...
I've also not included the several people who make "remixes" which are
not much more than the original module with some track replaced or
some extra patterns - as long as they give credit to the original composer.
This list will be updated.

2005-11-23
----------
Sorry for the unstable service the last few weeks. The problem was a
deteriorating DSL modem which is now replaced (again - the first
replacement modem was broken on arrival).

2005-11-19
----------
New format: AY STRC (.strc). I've only found one module of this format,
and it begins with ZXAYSTRC while the earlier AY formats Emul and
Amadeus begin with ZXAYEMUL and ZXAYAMAD. So this seems to be a relative...
but I've found no player that supports it.

2005-11-14
----------
The server was offline for 3 days while I was away working.
That was because the crappy DSL modem decided to quit and die an hour
or so after I left.

2005-11-03
----------
New format: RamTracker (.trk). Another AWE-based format that supports
MPU401 and GUS. Found and supplied by Deus-ex.

2005-10-28
----------
New format: All Sound Tracker (.ast). I leave the word to Deus-ex for
an introduction: "This format mainly targets on utilizing SB-AWE hardware
features but also supports FM-synthesis on OPL3-chips as well as MIDI
through the MPU401-interface and even PC-speaker output". This probably
doesn't work on anything else but a DOS machine with an AWE32-card.
Deus-ex also uploaded the tracker. I'll put that online as soon as I
get the upcoming tracker section sorted out.

Trimmed this file a bit...

2005-10-27
----------
The server was out of contact with the world from 02.00 to 13.15 today.
The crappy switch decided to hang the uplink port. Of course that
happened 5 minutes after I went to bed.

A while ago some nice (but anonymous) guy uploaded a bunch of
Screamtracker 2 mods, while also supplying credits for many of the
unknown ones. I've now added those, and took the opportunity to delete
all modules that simply were resaved Pro/Sound/Noisetracker ones.

2005-10-26
----------
New format: Unis 669 (.669), an extended version of Composer 669.
The modules begin with "JN" instead of "if". Only two modules of this
format found in the 669-drawer, and they were hunted down by Deus-ex.

New format: GoatTracker 2 (.sng). Extended version of GoatTracker,
supplied by... none other than Deus-ex! Modules begin with "GTS2"
instead of "GTS!".

2005-10-24
----------
New format: GoatTracker (.sng). Once again a new format discovered by
Deus-ex! This is a multi-platform C64 tracker that outputs SID sound
through reSID emulation or the HardSID soundcard.

New format: GoatTracker Stereo (.sng). A version of the above format,
where two 3-channel songs are combined into one... something like that.

2005-10-17
----------
New format: Ixalance (.ixs). Another day, another new format supplied
by Deus-ex. This one was created (mainly) by Crystal Score/TBL who also
composed all of the known modules. A player for this format is available
in /pub/players.

2005-10-16
----------
New format: Onyx Music File (.omf). This format was used in a musicdisk
called Jangle, released by Onyx in 1993. And it was (of course) Deus-ex
who found it. Thanks!

2005-10-11
----------
New format: Cybertracker C64 (.ct). A C64 format found by Deus-ex.
There is already a Cybertracker in the collection, but the only module
of that format looks totally different (begins with "CAT", then looks
like IFF chunks).

2005-10-09
----------
Even more corrections and additions from Deus-ex, mostly Ad Lib ones.
He also discovered a new Ad Lib format called Drum Traker, made by
Larry Tipton. That's the 50th Ad Lib format!

2005-09-29
----------
A lot of Ad Lib corrections and additions has been made the last days,
all thanks to Deus-ex, who also custom-ripped many of them.
A quite heroic deed. :)

2005-09-24
----------
Deus-ex cleaned up the Buzz area, no more unknowns there. Thanks!
Upcoming contributions from Knurek, Muerto and Sinatra. Thanks to them
for supplying. Will take care of those mods tomorrow - I should have
been asleep an hour ago (I'm between worknights)...

2005-09-20
----------
New format: PMD (.m). Another dump format from the PC9801. The modules
currently on Modland are from the Toho line of games. Artist unknown.
Thanks to Knurek for supplying these!

2005-09-19
----------
Thanks to Sqd for uploading all his Protracker modules!

2005-09-18
----------
Nothing much happens in this file, but in reality there are updates
done almost every day. Most of Axxy's DVD-contributed modules are done.
Now only 400 megs of IT-modules remain. There has also been a lot of
corrections and additions from Deus-ex the last days. Thanks!
Some numbers: there are now 23.4 gigs of XM-modules in the collection,
IT comes in 2nd with 10.8 gigs, MOD is right behind with 9.6 gigs.
This while the 200 "smallest" formats on Modland amounts to 1 gig together!
All in all there are now 54,917,976,085 bytes of delicious music on Modland.

2005-09-05
----------
Today Axxy's second DVD with missing modules arrived!
Most of them will be added during the next days. Again thanks to Axxy!

2005-09-01
----------
New format: Soundtracker 2.6. Quite unlike the other incarnations of ST.
Instead of an identifier (like "M.K.") at position 1080, you will find
"MTN" at 1464. Haven't found out anything else about this rarity...

The server will be out of service for a short while tonight or maybe
tomorrow. I'll try to force some more horsepowers out of the old dusty
hardware...

2005-08-24
----------
Again a bunch of corrections (and modules) contributed by Deus-ex. Thanks!

2005-08-23
----------
Lots of additions today, all credit for them goes to Axxy and Knurek.

2005-08-16
----------
Axxy was kind enough to burn and send a DVD full of modules missing
in the collection. Thanks a lot!

2005-08-06
----------
New format: Capcom Q-Sound Format (.qsf, .miniqsf). Another console
dump format related to PSF (see entry for 2005-04-30). This was also supplied
by Knurek. Thanks!

2005-08-02
----------
More updates! Finally got around to implement Asle's latest corrections,
so now there are a lot fewer unknowns in BP Soundmon 2, Delta Music 2
and JamCracker. Thanks Asle!

2005-07-21
----------
Removed CMF again as it's an Ad Lib format that was already present
in the Ad Lib folder. Bummer...

2005-07-20
----------
New format: Creative Music Format (.cmf). Similar to MIDI but the
instruments (FM synth only) are included in the module.
This one was supplied by Deus-ex who also made some more corrections
here and there...

2005-07-18
----------
New format: Psycle (.psy). According to Wikipedia a format "designed
to clone Buzz". That means that, like Buzz, some modules require that
you have the right "machines" installed. But most modules use only
the internal machines. Supplied by DSLracer.

2005-07-16
----------
Trying to fit in some updates between worknights...
And we have the usual trusty bunch of uploaders to thank for it all.

2005-07-05
----------
The additions and corrections just keep on coming... thanks to
Deus-ex and Axxy. And the allmods script now finally generates a
correctly formatted list. In the end I had to abandon several
clever solutions (that didn't work) and instead dig up a DOS ANSI
converter from the stone age (that did work). Brute force wins!

2005-07-03
----------
Added a DOS player for DSIK RIFF modules, supplied by Deus-ex.

The new "list of the day" script has problems with our lovely
swedish characters åäö. I'll fix it later...

2005-07-02
----------
After a lot of additions the last days, Modland just hit 200000
modules! It's quite insane. In 1993 I started collecting all modules
I could get, and after 2 years I had 1000 mods in the collection,
all on 880k disks... In 2001 I put Modland online, and I think there
were about 20000 mods in total at that time. In january 2004 I hit the
inconceivable 100000. It took 11 years to get to that point. And now,
not 18 months later, here we are at 200000... My warmest thanks to all
my friends who made this possible by contributing to the collection.
I hope you will remain for the continued journey towards the million... :)

2005-06-30
----------
New format: Digital Mugician 2 (.mug). Mixed up with Mugician 1 for
too long, now fixed. Both made by Rhino/Team Hoi.

Renamed DSS to its real name: Digital Sound Studio.

Replaced some of the players in the DP2-player pack with new versions,
and removed some redundant ones.

Added a bunch of S3M/XM-modules uploaded by Axxy. Thanks!
More to come I suspect...

2005-06-23
----------
I'm going away until some time next week. Going to celebrate a
traditional swedish midsummer (escaping out in the nature with some
good friends, raising a maypole, drinking too much alcohol, and all
that stuff). There will be a planned power outage here on tuesday
morning, planned to last from 00:00 to 04:00. The server should come
back up by itself, but if it doesn't, now you know why.

2005-06-22
----------
Muerto uploaded his AmigaPlayers for DP2, and after checking them all,
I could add or replace some players in my package (see entry for 19/6).
Thanks Muerto!

2005-06-20
----------
Added AdPlay 1.5 (DOS Ad Lib player) to the players section. It was
supplied by Deus-ex.

Other additions here and there thanks to the usual bunch of uploaders.

2005-06-19
----------
Lots of updating today, again chiefly thanks to Axxman.
Another thing: as many people use Deliplayer 2 but may have trouble
finding working players for some formats, or simply don't want to
download masses of independent archives from Wanted Team, I packed my
Amigaplayers folder into an archive which you now find in /pub/players/
windows/dp2-amigaplayers. It's not optimized in any way and probably
contains redundant players, but it will make your DP2 able to play
a great number of the formats here on Modland and other sites.
I've removed all players that cause instability to DP2 (v2.03), but
if you just move all the players into your existing Amigaplayers folder
you are asking for trouble. There will surely be conflicts and chaos.
I recommend backing up your existing Amigaplayers folder by renaming it
to Amigaplayers-old or something, and then implant my player collection
in its entirety. I will update and optimize this package whenever I get
the time.

2005-06-15
----------
Virgill mailed me and wanted several of the modules in /protracker/virgill
removed. Many were dupes and others were not made by him at all (they now
reside in the unknown dir), but some he claimed as "copyrighted". In some
case the samples were copyrighted, in another case the melody! How silly.
But I've always promised to follow musicians' requests so they are now
removed. And thanks to him for the other corrections.

Thanks to Climber for uploading his DBM modules.

2005-06-14
----------
Lots of XM/IT/S3M additions thanks to Axxman. Some other additions and
corrections made by Deus-ex, Knurek and some anonymous person(s). Thanks!

2005-06-06
----------
Lots of additions and corrections thanks to Deus-ex and Knurek.

2005-05-23
----------
New format: SPU (.spu). Another Playstation logging format of lesser
sound quality than PSF. I'll probably remove this format as soon as I
can get all songs as PSF instead. Thanks to Knurek for this one.

Among other uploads from Deus-ex was Adlibtracker2 Player 0.34,
a DOS player for many Ad Lib formats. It now resides in /pub/players/msdos.
Use DosBox to run it from Windows.

2005-05-19
----------
New format: Octalyser (.oct). Not to be confused with Oktalyzer, this
seems to be an Atari Falcon format based on Protracker. It has "CD81"
where Protracker has its "M.K." signature.

Quite many updates today. Thanks to all who have uploaded.

2005-05-08
----------
New format: MDX (.mdx, .pdx). Music from X68000, which Knurek called
"a japanese Amiga" as it was a 68000 based machine with custom chips.
Some of these modules require their sample file (.pdx) present in
the same dir. This format is also sorted on game. Almost no author
info was available - well, there was some documentation, but I have
an unfortunate lack of skill in reading kanji...

New format: S98 (.s98). Sound logs from PC88/PC9801 (japanese x86
compatible computers), also supplied by Knurek (of course!).

New format: KSS (.kss). The sound format of MSX, a japanese standard for
home computers taken up by Philips and Spectravideo among others.
It had AY- or YM-based sound like many other computers of that age.
This format too was supplied by Knurek and this concludes the additions
of his console format uploads. Thanks a lot, Knurek!

2005-05-07
----------
The server was down for 20 minutes or so while I installed a new
disk for backups. And after that it responded very slowly for a couple
of hours while all CPU time was spent on restoring the backup archives.

2005-05-06
----------
More and more updates... thanks to Knurek, Deus-ex, Promax and Muerto
for their support.

2005-05-02
----------
New format: HES (.hes), the music format of the TurboGrafx16/PC-Engine,
one of the first 16-bit consoles. Several cool tunes to be found here.
All songs by anonymous composers, unfortunately.

A bunch of other additions today, thanks to Deus-ex, Knurek and Anthony.
And to the one who uploaded the missing XM's by Nagz.

2005-05-01
----------
New format: Ultra64 Sound Format (.usf, .miniusf)
New format: Gameboy Sound Format (.gsb, .minigsf)
Music dumps from Nintendo 64 and Gameboy Advance. Both are close
relatives of PSF added yesterday. The same deal applies for miniusf/
usflib and minigsf/gsflib files. By the way, these library files are
of course excluded in the automatic module counting.

2005-04-30
----------
New format: Playstation Sound Format (.psf, .psf2, .minipsf, .minipsf2)
Music dumps from Playstation 1 and 2. Sorted on game title.
The minipsf's require their .psflib file in the same folder as it
contains the common sample set. These were supplied by Knurek who also
uploaded a bunch of other console formats which are on their way into
the collection...

2005-04-20
----------
New format: FuchsTracker (.fuchs). Thanks to someone for uploading.
New format: Electronic Music System (.ems). Renaming the old folder of
this name to Electronic Music System v6. The 6th version of EMS is
apparently very different from the earlier ones from the Amiga
(containing its own softsynth and all) so it's motivated to make this
separation. Thanks to Promax (of Kefrens, perhaps?) for pointing this out.

Today's XM additions were all uploaded by Stefano, so thanks to him.

2005-04-10
----------
New format: Digitrekker (.dtm). An Atari format.
New format: DigitalTracker (.dtm). Another Atari format. Yes, both use
the .dtm extension. Couldn't find out anything about either of these
formats, and no players either. Characteristics: Digitrekker modules
begin with "D.T.", DigitalTracker (only got one so far) looks like
Protracker in the beginning but has "FA08" instead of "M.K." at
position 1080, the "08" probably being the number of channels.

Maybe you noticed that there is a new Modland logo in the welcome
message. I thought it was time for a change so I threw it together.
Not being an ASCII artist I see it as a makeshift logo until I can get
another one, so if you are skilled with ASCII, please make a logo and
mail it to me! Thanks...

2005-04-05
----------
New format: SC68 (.sc68). Quoting the SC68 website (sc68.atari.org):
"SC68 project includes a very large collection of Atari ST and Amiga
soundchip musics. The SC68 music archive only contains musics that need
unusual or custom music players". Check the page for players for Winamp
and XMMS. I couldn't get any Amiga tunes to play though...
And it hasn't been updated since november 2003.

2005-04-04
----------
Thanks to Soft Maniac for uploading more of his cool XM-chips.

2005-04-01
----------
Some slow weeks due to too much work as usual. Thanks to Al Lansley
for contributing with his S3M works. Also thanks to the usual
faithful bunch of uploaders...

2005-03-07
----------
Someone might be interested in knowing that with the latest updates
the collection passed 27 gigs! If you would leech it all, and got
the whole upstream for yourself (which you wouldn't get), it would
take at least 78 hours!

2005-02-27
----------
Lots of additions the last days... thanks to all who have uploaded.
And of course thanks to Asle for his neverending hunt for the
"unknown" composers.

2005-02-22
----------
All the CBA modules have now been promoted from unknowns to being
properly sorted, thanks to Deus-ex, who also uncovered the info that
the format was created by Chuck Biscuits and Black Artist for a
musicdisk called Expoze.

2005-02-16
----------
I've been really busy with work the last week, so there has been
almost no updating. Today I at least got around to add Axxman's
recent XM and DMF (X-tracker) uploads. Thanks to him for those.

2005-02-08
----------
New format: Dynamic Studio Professional (.dsm). Apparently an old
multichannel Amiga tracker developed by Pooyan and Bonanza of LSD.
Once again it's Deus-ex who found this rarity, so thanks to him.
Note that the format's suffix is .dsm just like Digital Sound Interface Kit,
but DSIK's modules begin with "DSM" and DSP's modules begin with "DSm"!

And thanks to Asle who supplied the identities of the authors of yet another
bunch of previously unknown Protracker modules. Almost all Protracker updates
for today are thanks to him.

2005-02-02
----------
New format: Graoumf Tracker (.gtk). A tracker for Atari Falcon.
New format: Graoumf Tracker 2 (.gt2). The Windows sequel of the above,
made by Laurent de Soras. It can be found at graoumftracker2.sourceforge.net.
New format: Imago Orpheus (.imf). DOS tracker created by Imago
in 1993. Thanks to some anonymous person for uploading all these.

New format: Digital Sound Interface Kit RIFF (.dsm).
Renamed "Digisound Interface Kit" to "Digital Sound Interface Kit"
as it should be named. It seems there are two different formats with
this name, one where the files begin with "DSM" and one where they begin
with "RIFF". The latter of these formats was introduced with a commercial
version of the DSIK package. Since the two formats are incompatible I'll
keep the RIFF ones in a folder of their own. Thanks to Deus-ex for
all this info and example modules.

2005-01-31
----------
Today's addlog was cut short because of a module with a file name
full of unsuitable characters. Mostly Impulsetracker additions were
made but not reflected in the file. I'll try to make the script more
crap-resistant...

2005-01-30
----------
Cleaned up a bit in the Ad Lib-subfolders - many of the "unknowns"
weren't so unknown after all, and now also have their right names.
Check today's addlog for details... (see how useful it is!)

Thanks to Asle who hunted down the authors of several of the
unknown Protracker modules.

2005-01-29
----------
New format: Digital Sound & Music Interface (.amf). Old DOS format
created by Otto Chrons. Thanks to Deus-ex who discovered that a lot of
the modules in the Asylum folder really were of this format.

2005-01-24
----------
Fixed the addlog script a bit. It's still not intelligent enough to see
the difference between renamed files, moved files, replaced files and
files that are actually new - it will count all those as "new".
Not much to do about that I suppose. It might even be an advantage
if you want to follow all changes to the collection.

Shortened this file by moving entries before 2004-09-13 to the archive...

2005-01-23
----------
New format: Velvet Studio (.ams). Yes, on popular demand (or something)
I separate this format from Extreme Tracker again. Some info from the web
indicated that Extreme Tracker had simply changed name to Velvet Studio,
but apparently the format changed as well. Unfortunately they kept the
.ams suffix which complicates things... Thanks to an anonymous person for
pointing this out (and other errors that are now fixed).

2005-01-22
----------
The server is now running yet another script: one that sums up the
recently added modules each day and puts the results in /pub/addlogs.
If no modules were added, no result file will be created for that day.
Should you notice any oddities in this or other scripted stuff,
be sure to mail me...

Thanks to Deus-ex for uploading a bunch of V2 (formerly known as ViruzII)
modules! A Winamp plugin (along with VSTi and Buzz ones) for this format
can be found at www.1337haxorz.de/products.html#v2

2005-01-11
----------
Now also the welcome message is auto-updated with the correct number
of modules and formats! You wouldn't believe how complicated and ugly
this script is... but it works!

2005-01-07
----------
Wow! 2005 already... Added quite many mods here and there, but also
deleted a bunch of duplicates. I've also worked on some scripts,
mostly backup ones but also an automated module list updater. Now you
will always find the current module list in the root dir, generated
at 00:00 the same day. So don't begin leeching the old one at 23:59...

2004-12-19
----------
New format: Core Design (.core)
New format: Jeroen Tel (.jt)
New format: Fashion Tracker (.ex)
New format: Cinemaware (.cin)

Formats and players supplied by the always excellent Wanted Team.
Cinemaware is a MIDI-like format (probably only used in Wings)
that requires external samples in the folder "instruments".

Removed Velvet Studio and put the modules in Extreme Tracker, since
I found out that they are the same format.

The number of formats in the collection has now reached 200!
The total size of all modules just passed 21 gigs.

2004-12-18
----------
New format: Cubic Tiny XM (.mxm)
New format: Epic Megagames MASI (.psm)
New format: Digisound Interface Kit (.dsm)

Modules of these formats (and some others) were uploaded by some
nice person, along with a player that handles them: MilkyPlayLite.
(The "real" MilkyPlay is for PocketPC only.) You can now find this
player in /pub/players. The web page is here: oldschool.voodoofrog.com

2004-12-12
----------
The server crashed with a BSOD today, and because of my job
I couldn't come home to fix it until 20.15. Downtime: 8 hours
or something. Now the OS is set to autorestart on crashing...

2004-12-09
----------
Lots of additions here and there the last weeks, mostly in
Fasttracker 2. Still lots to go...

2004-11-03
----------
Slow updates right now because of heavy C64 music sorting...
I really want a PSID renaming tool... should be easy to write.
For someone that can code...

Now I found GoodPSID. Unfortunately it is useless.

2004-11-02
----------
Zeg made some uploads (many Ultratracker mods, among other stuff)
and corrections. Thanks!

2004-10-27
----------
New format: SoundClub 95 (.sn2).
Added more XM-modules uploaded by Stefano. Again thanks to him
for all his uploading.

2004-10-26
----------
New format: Vic-Tracker (.vt). A tracker for VIC-20 made by Daniel Kahlin.
Check http://www.kahlin.net/daniel/victracker/ for more info!

2004-10-25
----------
Many additions here and there, along with some deleting of duplicates.
Will probably pass 130000 tomorrow!

2004-10-21
----------
Had to implement some protection against bad clients who continuously
try to open new connections to get several files simultaneously.
No, you won't get the files faster (the sum of your download speeds
equals what you would have got from a single thread), the log files
fill up in no time at all and it's generally bad behaviour.
3 logins from the same IP are accepted, it's pointless to keep trying
to open more. From now on, if you connect more than 3 times within
20 seconds, your IP will be blocked for 30 minutes. If you don't know
how to configure your client so it won't be so abusive, use another client!

2004-09-30
----------
Added lots of YM tunes that have escaped organizing for too long...

2004-09-29
----------
New format: Renoise (.rns). Only playable in Renoise itself as far as I know...
New format: Atari Digi-Mix (.mix).
New format: Skaletracker (.skm).

2004-09-22
----------
Months ago someone uploaded some Sidmon 1 tunes along with a textfile
describing the authors of many other tunes. I've now used that file
to get a much better sorted Sidmon 1 folder (it was in almost total chaos
before). Thanks to whoever it was who uploaded those files.

2004-09-21
----------
New format: Vortex Tracker II (.vt2). Found a couple of modules with
the suffix .pt3, but they didn't look like Spectrum Pro Tracker 3 at all.
Instead they began with "Vortex Tracker II 1.0 module". Until I know what
to make of this I'll let them live in their own folder...

Added hundreds of Protracker modules. All were from the old (very old)
unsorted area, where several gigs of modules still reside...
I'll try to sort and add as many as possible each day, now that I
have both time and space for them.

2004-09-19
----------
New format: Nintendo SPC (*.spc), the format for dumps of SNES music.
Lots of lovely music came from that console. This is a collection
sorted on author (of course!) that I've had archived for a long time
awaiting new server disk space...

2004-09-13
----------
Finally! The server got upgraded, and will not run out of disk space
for a long time... probably never! Now get uploading those modules
you have in your dusty old diskboxes (I know you do)!

2004-08-17
----------
If you mailed me some time between 16th of august 17:11 and now,
please send your mail again since the mailserver's workdisk got full
(many full disks around here) and no mails could be saved...

2004-08-07
----------
Index file updated.

The module partition is now absolutely full!
No more updates or uploads until the disks are replaced.

2004-07-31
----------
In the root dir you will now find a photo of the server... and here
are some useless facts on Modland:

CPU: AMD K7, 650 MHz (top of the line 1999)
Memory: 128 MB SDRAM (6 years old budget chip)
Storage: 20+20 GB RAID1 array (total available for modules: 17 GB),
where one of the disks is emitting threatening clicking noises
Uplink: 800 kbit DSL line (...)

With that upstream you don't really need state of the art hardware...
But at least the disks will be replaced in a month or two.
And sometimes, perhaps, if I find the right hosting, I will put the
server on colocation and get some real bandwidth...

Hmm, maybe I should begin making those "Donate!" pleas you always
see on other sites? :) OK, it's a deal! If you want to contribute
economically to the future of Modland (don't worry, it will be there anyway!),
just send some money in a letter to Daniel Johansson, Siriusg. 108,
41522 Göteborg, Sweden.

2004-07-12
----------
Added hundreds of mods (mostly XM's) uploaded by Stefano. Thanks!

2004-06-28
----------
Some updating here and there (over 105000 mods now!), the most
important being the installation of a better firewall that hopefully
won't crash at least twice a week.

2004-06-06
----------
At 22:51, friday the 4th, the firewall on modland.com crashed and
thereby all connections were blocked. That was a few hours after I had
left for my old home town for the weekend. Now, 47 hours later,
I'm back and the server was restarted... Why do these things never
happen when I'm home?

2004-05-24
----------
Ivo Šišák uploaded a part of an unknown song for identification.
I didn't recognize it. If you have some time over, please download
sample.mp3 from the temp dir and see if you can identify it!

2004-05-19
----------
Had to restart the server since it decided to close all data
connections, so nothing could be transferred for several hours...
People could login but that was all.
Strange things happen with computers.

2004-05-14
----------
Thanks to Rolemusic for uploading his Impulsetracker modules.
Also thanks to Tue for completing(?) my collection of Hille-modules!

2004-05-09
----------
New format: Future Composer BSI (.bsi). Created by Tony Bybell.
It seems to have nothing to do with the real FC (v1.3 and 1.4).

2004-05-07
----------
The module partition is now 99% full! Only small additions can be done
until I buy new disks. This will probably take a couple of months. :/

Thanks to Knurek for all his uploads including a lot of SNES music
that will be put online as soon as there is space available...

2004-05-01
----------
Added Mahoney's complete works after finding his homepage. Thanks to
him and other legendary musicians who don't hide away their old stuff!

2004-04-29
----------
Many updates, mostly Vortex and Impulsetracker, but also many other
formats.

2004-04-18
----------
Psycho was nice enough to upload his complete works (MOD/XM). Thanks!
Also thanks to Booster and his anonymous acquaintance who uploaded
Gryzor's legendary CD-set "Mods Anthology". Most of those modules were
already present at Modland, but many fills will be made the next days.

2004-04-14
----------
Sorry for the lack of updates lately... I'll get to it tomorrow!
Today is my birthday, hooray for me :)

2004-03-19
----------
New format: NerdTracker 2 (*.ned), a NES tracker for DOS.

2004-03-07
----------
The server was down for some hours because of a crash-exploit-using
scriptkiddie located at pc21-73.kub.trollhattan.se. This exploit has now
been patched and *.kub.trollhattan.se filtered.

2004-02-12
----------
Tested another module lister. This one didn't crash, but it turned out to
have no support for long filenames. What a joke. I give up. If someone has
a nice module lister, please put it in /upload... thanks.

2004-02-01
----------
New format: Viruz II (.v2m). This is the fantastic sound engine used in
Farbrausch's famous series of intros. Only two modules known so far,
I really hope to find more! Find the player here:
http://xdata.port5.com/pub/viruz2.rar

2004-01-30
----------
Thanks to Spot for synching Modland's AHX collection with his own!
Now 742 AHX modules online. It may be the largest AHX collection on the net. :)

2004-01-29
----------
New format: SoundPlayer (sjs./smp.)
New format: BP SoundMon 3 (.bp3). No longer mixed with BP SoundMon 2.
Deleted format: SoundMon 2. That folder was empty... probably created by mistake.
New format: Cybertracker (.ct). Nothing is known about this format.
All I find is a Cybertracker for C64, but since the only module I have
is 280 kb, I hardly think that's the one.
New format: Soundtracker Pro II (.stp)
New format: Sound Master II V1 (.smpro)
New format: Sound Master II V3 (.sm3)
Modules of the latter two formats are no longer mixed with the original
Sound Master modules. Thanks to DSLracer for uploading these obscurities
and lots of other stuff I haven't had time to sort yet...

I decided not to include SMUS (Sonix) in the collection, since the tunes
I've found all have external samples, something that goes against the
very point of modules... I've never included Soundtracker songs either.

Tried out a module listmaker, to get a nicer index file than just a
dir dump, but it crashed when it was fed the whole collection...

2004-01-14
----------
At 21:35 it happened: the 100000th module was added to the collection,
and it was "Artic blues" (Protracker) by Uncle Ben!
Now the race towards 200000 begins! :)
Thanks to all who made this possible.

2004-01-13
----------
New format: MusicMaker v8 (.mm8). I don't know what the old version
was, but it had each module split up into three or four files, really
inconvenient. Now there's only one file to each module.

2004-01-12
----------
New format: Symphonie (.symmod)

Lots of updates here and there. 100000 is drawing really close!

2004-01-11
----------
New format: RealSID (.rsid). While I was adding a bunch of new
PlaySIDs, I noticed that many of them were of the RealSID format
(4 first characters are RSID instead of PSID). I knew that I already
had some of those mixed with the modules in the PlaySID folder, so I
decided to separate them once and for all. Many of the new C64 modules
published in HVSC and other places are RealSIDs, and it's unfortunate
that they are mixed with PlaySIDs like this, specially since many players
only support PlaySIDs. They even usually have the same extension, .sid,
which in itself is wrong - it should be .psid!
(.sid always was the SidMON extension on the Amiga.)

DeliPlayer 2 has finally been released in a non-beta version.
Get it from pub/players/windows or www.deliplayer.com.
This is the most important piece of software you can have on your PC. :)

2004-01-10
----------
It's a new year, and Modland moved to new hardware (again!).
It now resides on its own dedicated machine. Please, if you notice
any strange behaviour, mail me at once (coma@modland.com).

2003-12-15
----------
Too much work, too less updating as always.
The server now has a new connection with a little more bandwidth.
It also has a new IP address and I just changed the DNS record,
which is why ftp.modland.com was unreachable for a while.

2003-11-23
----------
New format: SoundMon 2. Thanks to Zeg for uploading it and for
several other completions here and there...

2003-11-12
----------
New format: Future Player. Thanks to Wanted Team for writing a
player for it (and various other formats) and to DSLracer for
the tip.

2003-11-09
----------
Some new updates after a month of very low activity!
Thanks to all who has mailed during this period and contributed
with modules or corrections. Everything gets added sooner or
later... mostly later... :)

2003-10-06
----------
More corrections by Jashiin. Thanks!

2003-10-02
----------
I guess many have noticed communication problems with the
server now and then... there was some trouble with the new
hardware but that seems to be fixed now. Remember: always make
sure your FSB speed equals your memory speed. :)

And thanks to Vince Young for uploading some missing modules.

2003-09-25
----------
Ramosa uploaded his complete works (Protracker and some XM).
Thanks a lot!

2003-09-24
----------
More problems... Migrated Modland to a new computer. Didn't go
as smoothly as one could hope for. When that was solved, the
connection from my ISP went down again. It's now been up for
two of the last ten hours. This sucks.

2003-09-23
----------
New format: Stonetracker (.spm/.sps). A 4-8 channel Amiga tracker
that never became a success. Patterns and samples in separate files.

2003-09-22
----------
New format: Velvet Studio (.ams). Thanks to an unknown person for
uploading these modules. The player didn't want to run in XP...

2003-09-18
----------
I have foolishly forgotten to renew the domain name. It will be done
tomorrow. So now you know what happened if you had trouble reaching
the site...

2003-09-14
----------
New format: Funktracker (.fnk). Searched for this tracker on the web
but all that remains of it are dead links...
New format: Disorder Tracker 2 (.plm). This tracker was also impossible
to find.
New format: Digitrakker (.mdl). Actually found this old tracker but it
didn't want to run in my XP environment...

2003-09-13
----------
New format: Gameboy Tracker (.mgb). A tracker, made by Paragon 5,
for music made with Gameboy specifications. Has nothing to do with the
GBS format.

Since some days you can now see a page at www.modland.com.
Too bad it doesn't contain anything yet... :)

2003-09-12
----------
New format: Protracker 3.6 (.pt36). A version I had never seen before.
The modules seem to be in IFF-FORM format. Quite obscure.

Thanks to Zeg who has uploaded missing modules by 4-mat,
Dreamweaver, Greg and others! Also thanks to Mark Chapman
for his continuing uploading efforts...

2003-09-01
----------
Updated the index file today. It got quite a bit bigger...

Now over 90000 modules online!

2003-08-31
----------
New format: Nintendo GBS (*.gbs). Dumped music from the Gameboy system.
Added a collection of 89 GBS modules, surprisingly many with author names.
New format: Video Game Music (*.vgm). Dumped music from various Yamaha/TI
chips mostly used in Sega consoles but also in some arcade games.

2003-08-30
----------
Thanks to Mark Chapman who has been uploading lots of missing XM's!

2003-08-29
----------
More sorting day and night... the race towards 100000 continues!
Thanks to Orbit for uploading his "at work"-collection. :)

2003-08-27
----------
Thanks to Awtl for finding some artist duplications and some format info.
Also thanks to Mr. Holub for uploading some of his own modules.

2003-08-26
----------
SMT uploaded his complete works (all Protracker). Thanks a lot!

2003-08-23
----------
No updates for a while due to summer lazyness and such.
And my ISP is doing some maintenance so the connection is going
up and down. This will continue for some days.

2003-07-10
----------
New format: Digital Sonix & Chrome (*.dsc). Only used in the game
Dragon's Breath. Thanks to Muerto for finding this oddity.

2003-07-08
----------
Thanks to whoever it was that uploaded those "Unk-mods" lists ages ago.
All the unknown mods have now been sorted into their right place.

2003-07-07
----------
Added the last 1500 (or so) Megadrive GYM modules which have been lying
in /upload since january. Because they have to be compressed one by one
with YMAMP (to not occupy several megs each) it was a really boring job...
But now it's done!

I also shrunk this file a bit by removing all entries older than
2003-05-01. If you are interested in the old updates (as I'm sure you're not)
you'll find them in /pub/documents/old_updates/.

2003-07-02
----------
Zeromus uploaded 97 megs of modules (mostly XM) by Awesome. Thanks!

2003-07-01
----------
Updated the index file today.

Mice (I think it was him...) uploaded a bunch of Protracker mods by
himself and Broom (ex-Deadbeat - deleted the Deadbeat dir). Thanks!

2003-06-18
----------
New format: Spectrum Sound Tracker 1.1 (.st11). Yet another Spectrum tracker.

Since there are two kinds of AY modules, Amadeus (AMAD) and emulated
(EMUL, requires Z80 emulation), I renamed their folders accordingly, and
also changed the file extensions to *.amad and *.emul. Some Spectrum music
collections already use this naming convention and I don't want two formats
to share extension (please don't remind me of *.mod now... :)

2003-06-17
----------
New format: Peter Verswyvelen (.pvp)

Here follows some Spectrum chaos... but now a bit more ordered than before.
We can clearly see that there is a need for a system like PlaySID
for AY/YM-music... maybe SNDH will become something like that in the future.
(I've put "Spectrum" in front of the tracker names to avoid mixups)

New format: SNDH (.snd). Quote from the SndPlayer page of Dead Hackers
Society: "The .snd fileformat is short for "SNDH" which is a
unified header and calling method for all types of YM-chipmusic.
It means that one single player can replay most synth tunes
without having a dozen of different players and calling methods."
I guess this means that many of the SNDH tunes online here
also exist duplicated as other formats. Not much to do about
            that I suppose.
New format: Spectrum ST Song Compiler (.stc). AY-format mainly created with
the Spectrum tracker of the same name.
New format: Spectrum ASC Sound Master (.asc). Another Spectrum tracker format.
New format: Spectrum Pro Tracker 1 (.pt1). Another Spectrum tracker format.
New format: Spectrum Pro Tracker 2 (.pt2). See above...
New format: Spectrum Pro Tracker 3 (.pt3). See above...
New format: Spectrum Sound Tracker Pro (.stp). See above...
New format: Spectrum SQ Tracker (.sqt). See above...
New format: Spectrum Pro Sound Creator (.psc). See above...
New format: Spectrum Fuxoft AY Language (.fxm). See above...
New format: Spectrum Fast Tracker (.ftc). See above...
New format: Spectrum Flash Tracker (.fls). See above...
New format: Spectrum Global Tracker (.gtr). See above...
New format: Spectrum ZXS (.zxs). See above...
New format: YM (.ym). A format designed by Leonard/Oxygene for his
emulator ST-Sound which was first made to emulate the
Atari ST sound chip, but now covers multiple chips.
Info about this and other AY/YM-formats comes from the
docs of AY Emul by Sergey Bulba.

Now over 80000 modules online!

2003-06-16
----------
Jellybean uploaded a bunch of Protracker modules and also made
some corrections. Thanks! Yet another step towards 100% accuracy... :)

2003-06-15
----------
New format: JayTrax (.jsx)

Muerto uploaded a collection of various exotic modules as well as
many MOD/S3M/XM's. Thanks!

2003-06-13
----------
New format: Amadeus (.amad). An emulated Spectrum format (the files begin
with ZXAYAMAD) but Deliplayer 2 does not identify it as AY but as Amadeus,
so I'll give it its own folder for now.

Numerous small updates, removal of duplicates and so on. I'm done with
that job out of town, and am now working on the masses of modules in
/upload... thanks to all who have uploaded!

And thanks to Jashiin for "corrections.txt", all corrections have now
been done.

2003-05-04
----------
DSLracer uploaded a big bunch of Protracker modules. Thanks!

2003-05-03
----------
It came to my attention that several of the modules in Protracker/Heatbeat
in fact is not made by Heatbeat. This info came from Heatbeat himself
by way of the Mod Soul Brother site. So I moved the faulty modules to
Unknown/Not by Heatbeat. Most of them are probably made by sample rippers
who didn't care to write new sample texts. If you know the true author
of any of them, let me know.

Due to a configuration error from yours truly, the server did not
respond to anything during the last 24 hours or so... my bad!

2003-05-01
----------
Updated the index file today.

2003-04-27
----------
New format: InStereo! (.is)
New format: InStereo! 2.0 (.is20)
New format: Jesper Olsen (.jo)
New format: Mark Cooksey Old (.mco)
New format: MusicMaker (.sdata/.ip/.ip.l/.ip.n). Three or four files
            to every module! It's madness.
New format: Maniacs Of Noise Old (.mon). Same suffix as the "new" format,
            but now in separate drawers.
New format: PokeyNoise (pn.). Each module must be accompanied by its
            icon (.info) which contains metadata.
New format: SynTracker (.st)
New format: SunTronic (.sun)

Changed name of Jason Page to Jason Page Old, and Jason Page New
to Jason Page, to be consistent with other module collections...

At 21.00 today, the collection passed exactly 10 gigabytes -
that's 10737418240 bytes of delicious music! :)

2003-04-26
----------
Only minor updates the last month! I've got a new job in another
city so I'm only home during weekends. But it will only be for
another month or so.

Added a bunch of AHX modules that had been lying unsorted in the
upload area for too long. Now 676 AHX mods online! That's 2.5 Mb! :)

2003-03-25
----------
The server was down all morning because of a power failure.
I want a UPS for christmas...

Hollywood uploaded some rare stuff he found in the attic :)
Thanks for that!

2003-03-06
----------
Gargoyle made two link banners for Modland. Thanks a lot!
If you want to link to Modland from your web page, you'll find
them in /pub/banners.

Ijon Tichy cleared up some of the mess in the "unknown" dir of
Protracker... thanks!

I'll put the dir structure of Modland on another disk.
If you notice some strange things (inaccessible dirs or something
like that), please mail me (coma@modland.com).

2003-03-04
----------
Thanks to Hollywood, Blackspawn, Tecon, Sinatra, Rolex (and of
course Guffaw) and others who have uploaded lots of modules
the last month. The updating has been quite sporadical (to say
the least) but most of the new modules will be online soon...

2003-02-27
----------
Deleted the final duplicates found by SoLo. He did a great job
finding all those dupes. Big thanks to him!

2003-02-19
----------
Deleted another bunch of duplicates found by SoLo.

2003-02-17
----------
Removed the filter on *.tip.t-dialin.net.

2003-02-11
----------
Deleted even more duplicates found by SoLo.
Rolex uploaded missing Protracker mods by various musicians,
including some really cool ones by Raatomestari, and some XM's
by himself. Thanks!

2003-02-07
----------
Deleted more duplicates found by SoLo.

2003-02-06
----------
I've been adding more Protracker modules the last days. The 2000th
Protracker composer has been added, and it was Terrax/Palace!

My ISP apparently has gigantic problems... I've had no connection
at all for 27 hours now. The problem will "maybe" be fixed tomorrow.
Bostream is fast and cheap but when an error occurs they often have
no idea what to do...

2003-02-01
----------
Added a lot of Protracker modules (and when I say Protracker modules
I mean Soundtracker/Noisetracker/Startrekker/Protracker/etc...
you get it! :), mostly anonymous ones. Passed 25000 Protracker modules
today, but of those 1756 are anonymous. Tell me if you can identify
some of them!

Also updated the index file today.

2003-01-31
----------
New format: Wally Beben (.wb)

Deleted more duplicates found by SoLo.

2003-01-29
----------
New format: Electronic Music System (.ems). Made by Sean Connolly,
it's a very competent and compact softsynth format which also supports
samples. Very nice! You need DP2 to hear them!
Check out Sean's web page at www.cosine-systems.com.

Found out that Sound Images and Tiny Williams are in fact the same format.
An updated version of Don Adan's Sound Images player has support for all
variations of these two, so I'll put it all in the Sound Images drawer now.

2003-01-28
----------
DeliPlayer 2 has been released! It's still in its beta stages and
that's noticeable. But it's a great player which you should try at once!
You'll find it at www.deliplayer.com.

2003-01-26
----------
SoLo hunted down even more duplicates and bad rips. Thanks!

My ISP seems to have had a lot of problems the last two days,
problems related to the Slammer worm that has crawled around the net
lately. One of the routers close to me suddenly doesn't know what to
do with packets going to Modland. It throws them away for some hours,
then it works normally for some hours. Strange... I've reported the
problem so let's hope it goes away soon...

2003-01-23
----------
New formats: Megadrive CYM (.cym) and GYM (.gym). This is ripped music
from Sega Megadrive games. All modules (as I like to call them, even
if they really are register dumps) are zlib compressed as this greatly
reduces file sizes, often 30-40 times or even 100! To play these files
I recommend YMAMP, a plugin for WinAmp. All Megadrive tunes (and other
console formats I will add later) are sorted on game title.
I don't have any high hopes of finding out who all the authors are,
and it's probably only I who care anyway...

2003-01-21
----------
Rolex uploaded his complete works 1995-2000. The earlier works were
unfortunately lost somewhere... thanks Rolex!

SoLo found a module renamer that works really well! Administrative time
went down several percent. :) Thanks to him for this great find!

2003-01-14
----------
New format: OctaMED MMDC (.mmdc)

Compared the PSID collection with the latest HVSC. Made some additions,
mostly new rips of tunes already present in the collection. No RealSIDs
yet, maybe I will add those some other time (when they are supported by
Deliplayer...)

The number of modules is now over 60000!

2003-01-12
----------
The server was down last night and this morning. I had to defrag the
module disk.

Added 373 AY modules ripped by SoLo. Thanks to him!
As far as I know all modules are anonymous. They are now partly sorted
on ripsource, I'll let them stay that way until I can get info on the
authors.

2003-01-07
----------
New format: Magnetic Fields Packer (mfp./smp.)
New format: Legless Music Editor (.lme)
New format: Thomas Hermann (thm./smp.). At least one of the modules in this
format has all its samples as external files in the subdir
            "Instruments". Really ugly solution.
New format: Unique Development (uds./smp.)
New format: Pierre Adane Packer (.pap). Just like Synth Dream, requires
"smp.set" in the same dir as the modules.
New format: NovoTrade Packer (.ntp)
New format: Paul Robotham (.dat/.ssd)
New format: Synth Pack (.osp). Like Synth Dream, requires "smp.set" in the
            same dir as the modules.

Lots of the exotic formats added the last days comes (of course) from Exotica
and Wanted Team. Huge thanks to them for what they do for us Amiga music fans.

2003-01-06
----------
New format: Professional Sound Artists (.psa)
New format: Rob Hubbard Old (.rho) (also called "Rob Hubbard ST")
New format: Paul Summers (.snk)
New format: Tomy Tracker (.sg)
New format: Soundcontrol (.sc)
New format: The Musical Enlightenment (.tme)
New format: Mike Davies (.md)
New format: Speedy System (.ss)
New format: Speedy A1 System (.sas)
New format: Janko Mrsic-Flogel (.jmf)
New format: Jason Page New (jpn./smp.)
New format: Synth Dream (.sdr). Requires the sample data, called "smp.set",
to be present in the same directory as the modules.

Was about to add the Martin Walker format, but it's identical to
Activision Pro.

Removed the Chiptracker format again since I found out it's a Protracker
packer. Converted and moved the modules.

2003-01-05
----------
New format: Dave Lowe New (.dln)

2003-01-04
----------
New format: Desire (.dsr)
New format: Sean Connolly (.scn)
New format: Dynamic Synthesizer (dns./smp.)
New format: Silmarils (.mok)
New format: Sound Master (.sm)
New format: Howie Davies (.hd)
New format: Special FX (.jd)
New format: Chiptracker (.kris)
New format: Kris Hatlelid (.kh). This format requires the playroutine,
called "songplay" to be placed in the same directory as the
modules. At least this is valid for Deliplayer, I don't know
            about other players.

2003-01-02
----------
Note! I changed my mail address. The old one will be functioning for
some weeks more, but from now on you can reach me on coma@modland.com.

New format: Fred Gray (.gray)
New format: Riff Raff (.riff)
New format: Sean Conran (.scr)

2003-01-01

It's a new year, and the updating continues after a christmas break...

New format: Images Music System (.ims)
New format: Sound Programming Language (.spl)

Lem made some more uploads. Thanks!

2002-12-15
----------
DJ Speedstar uploaded a bunch of mods in different formats by various
artists, including himself. Thanks a lot!

Finally added the last of Jellybean's PT mods, and also some FC mods by
him. Thanks again for uploading them.

2002-12-12
----------
Sorry, very little updating the last weeks.

Filtered out *.tip.t-dialin.net because of a warez-uploading idiot
who couldn't take a hint (kicked him 3 times). Sorry for any module fans
on that network.

2002-11-21
----------
Vegard Myksvoll (Jellybean) uploaded a bunch of his Protracker mods.
Thanks a lot to him!

The server was down for a couple of hours last night due to upgrading
and a bit of reconfiguring.

New format: Mark Cooksey (mcr./mcs.). This format requires prefix instead of
suffix. Ugly. But there is a one-file version of it which doesn't.

Lem found some more duplicates which were removed. Thanks!

2002-11-09
----------
You will now find the index mentioned below in the same dir as this file.
Zipped for your convenience. I'll update it after every major module update.

2002-11-08
----------
New format: Steve Barrett (.sb)
New format: Hippel 7V (.hip7)

Lem requested an index of all modules. I promised I'll put one online soon!

2002-11-03
----------
New format: Paul Shields (.ps)

Michael Doering informed me of the authors of several "unknown" custom
modules, and some misplaced ones. Thanks!

2002-11-02
----------
Ijon Tichy contributed with his modules in Protracker, Digibooster
and Digibooster Pro. Thanks!

DJ Speedstar uploaded a bunch of Ad Lib modules in different formats.
Thanks to him too. I decided to put all Ad Lib formats in one drawer.
They are too many to be mixed up with the rest of the formats.
This affects only the AMusic drawer which until now was my only Ad Lib format.
Almost all Ad Lib modules are now by "unknown composer" but I will soon
sort them better.

----------
New format: OctaMED MMD2 (.mmd2). Yep, it is seldom seen...

Essential Sound uploaded his works in Musicline Editor and OctaMED MMD1-3.
Thank you! Also thanks to Guffaw of course, who uploaded another 2 gigs of
modules, this time sorted ones so they went straight into the collection.
Now back to the unsorted Guffaw-uploads (only 7 gigs left of those...).

2002-10-28
----------
New format: Forgotten Worlds (.fw). Only used in the game with the same name.
New format: DSS (.dss). Nothing is known about this format, but Deli plays it.
New format: Dave Lowe-WT (.dl). Dave Lowe's original format adapted by Don Adan/
Wanted Team to be playable in Eagleplayer.
New format: General DigiMusic (.gdm). 'The internal format of the "Bells,
Whistles and Sound Boards" library', according to the Aplayer docs.
New format: CBA (.cba). Another obscure format described as "Heretics CBA Noise
            driver" at some ripper page.
New format: David Hanney (.dh). Only used in the game Tearaway Thomas.

Changed name of the Martin Walker format to Activision Pro.

Goto80 uploaded his "almost complete" works (Protracker+PSID), thanks a lot!

2002-10-25
----------
Finished sorting all of SoLo's uploads (from august...), big thanks to him.

The 20000th Protracker module has been added. It was:
"The Party 5", a co-op between Subject (nowadays called Prophet) and Blue Fox!

2002-10-14
----------
New format: Quadra Composer (.emod)

New adress for the server: ftp.modland.com. The old adress will probably
be valid for a couple more months.

2002-09-18
----------
New format: NSF (converted NES music). I've had these lying around for a
long time, not considering them to be modules, but now as I found a
Deliplayer for them, I thought I should include them.

Added around 1300 YM (converted Atari music) modules, compiled by Exotica.
NOTE! In Jochen Hippel's dir, there are several files that end with "_replay".
Those are not modules, but external replay routines needed to play some of
the modules, and they have to be in the same dir as the modules.
This solution sucks but hopefully the routines will be built into the
next version of YMPlayer for Deliplayer.

2002-09-16
----------
New format: Tiny Williams (.tiny)

Deleted around 100 Protracker duplicates today.
By hand! Duplic8 missed them!

2002-09-15
----------
New format: AMusic (AdLib tracker) (.amd)
New format: Delta Packer (packed Delta Music) (.dp)
Note: I usually don't include packer formats, this is an
exception because it is so unlike the original format and
            cannot be converted back.
New format: Games Music Creator (.gmc)
New format: MaxTrax (.mtx)
Note: There is no PC player available that I know of.
Deliplayer 2 will hopefully play this format (when it's
released some day in the next decade...)
New format: Ron Klaren (.rk)

2002-09-14
----------
New format: Asylum (.asm)
New format: Music Editor song+samples (the grandfather of MMD0-3) (.med)
New format: Vortex (converted Spectrum music, Yamaha chip emulator) (.vtx)

The updates have been very slow the last days. I decided to just stuff
in the modules in the right places as fast as possible without taking
notes. It's the updating of this file that causes the slow speed, so
I'll put that on hold until the Guffaw-additions are done.
Some interesting notes (new formats, uploads from authors etc.) will
still be put in this file, but not everything.

A newsbit: I'm planning on building a web interface for this site.
It all depends on if and how soon I can learn HTML, PHP and SQL...

As always, direct your questions and such to this addy: coma@underjord.net

2002-09-07
----------
Shout uploaded a bunch of his Protracker mods and XM's. Thanks!
Zeg uploaded a bunch of Protracker mods by Hein and SLL. Thanks to him too!

Added the SIDs of the newest HVSC collection. After deleting the ones
already present here at Modland, about 5000 modules remained and were added.
Author updates are too many to list... Probably there are still duplicates,
because of the bad ripping/sorting/naming conventions in the SID world.
Also renamed the new modules to *.psid. The *.sid extension has always been
used for SidMon modules!

Megaman has changed handle to Breeze, which clashes with a finnish composer

Finally got a name on the composer of "Echoing", a really old Protracker module

module (that and "Robotron 2" was on the Soundtracker 2 disk...) and made by
Banana/World of Wonders. Nice!

----------
I realised that most of my "Fasttracker" modules really are Taketracker ones.
The problem is that both programs use the MOD extension for saving, and can
even use the M.K. identifier. To make things even more complicated, I have some
mods in the Protracker drawer that really are 4 channel Taketracker modules,
that look like Protracker in every aspect... except that Deliplayer identifies
them as Taketracker. I plan on sorting out this mess when I get the time.
For now, I will continue to use FT as extension for Fasttracker/Taketracker mods
and place 4 channel Taketracker mods (with "M.K.") in the Protracker drawer.
Maybe I should sort out the Soundtracker and Noisetracker (etc.) from the PT
drawer as well...

----------
Starting a few days ago, Guffaw has uploaded a massive amount of modules.
I will now take on the herculian task of sorting them all...
Major additions of Protracker mods by Dax (Ravebusters) and Randall.
Minor additions of Protracker mods by Puryx.
New composers in Protracker: Feekzoid and Stamen.
New composers in Fasttracker 2: Betrayer, Buried, DJ Cybex, DJ Keys, Fuzzer, Gopher,
High Tension, Hybrido, Labworks, Mempheria, Nocturnal Beast, Soulsweeper, Trancex.
Most of these have sizes that just makes no sense. The addition of these XM's
increased the average module size of my whole collection from 55288 to 61072 bytes!
Included is the biggest module I've seen so far: 14 Mb!! (Of myth and legend.xm by
Gopher). New composer in Impulsetracker: Ivory.

Corrected the confusion around the modules from "My Kingdom" by Haujobb:
#1 is called "Tamagotchi" and was made by Jazz alone (not with Fender).
#2 is called "Antigotchi" and was made by Muffler as a remix of #1.
Thanks to Jazz for that info.
