DESCRIPTION:  This creates a diskette that allows a user to upgrade the System ROM on an LTE 5000 to a version 1.11A System ROM (28 Mar 1996).

ROM UPDATES:
* Adjusted Power Management features to properly identify internal/external display status when restoring video state after Suspend.
* Adjusted Power Management features to properly adjust for Hibernation when a low battery condition is detected during Standby.
* Added Standby slot power and Resume On Ring functionality to the PC Card slot.
* Adjusted Security Management features to prevent a user from bypassing the diskette boot disable feature by removing all other boot devices from unit.
* Increased the number of external input devices detected and supported.
* Modified memory detection routines to properly report installed memory. 
* Added safeguards against incorrectly identifying IDE hard drives as faulty due to improper responses from the hard drive during initialization or Diagnostics Test.
* Made modifications to the enhance the products sound capabilities.
* Updated Video Bios information in order to increase functionality.

HOW TO USE:

1.  Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette.

2.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.  The file that is downloaded is SP1627.EXE.

3.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
    SP1627 [ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskette into a diskette drive to create the diskette.

4.  After the diskette is created, you may delete the downloaded file SP1627.EXE if you wish.

5.  Power down the computer.

6.  Place the newly created Compaq LTE 5000 ROMPaq Diskette in Drive A: and power up the computer.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE SYSTEM WHILE PERFORMING THIS PROCEDURE!

7.  Follow on-screen instructions.
