VideoLogic Software Library CD ============================== Ver 3.0, 12th November 1996 This CD contains: - Software and documentation for a range of VideoLogic products - Useful tools and utilities - Sample AVI and MPEG clips This README file contains installation instructions for a range of VideoLogic products and a guide to the reader used to read/view the documentation. To install the drivers find the section relating to the product you have and follow the instructions provided. To read/view the documentation install the document reader and follow the instructions provided. ***************************************************************************** Document Reader ***************************************************************************** The document reader provided is Acrobat(TM) from Adobe(TM). Ver 1.0 for DOS and Ver 2.1 for Windows 3.x and Windows 95. NOTE - The current version of Acrobat is Windows 95 compatible, but not yet compliant. This means it will run under Windows 95 but may not meet all of Microsoft's guidelines for complete Windows 95 compliance. The reader files are held in the directory [drive]:\READER. The sub-directories DOS, WIN31 and WIN95 contain self-extracting versions of Acrobat for DOS, Windows 3.x and Windows 95 respectively. _____________________________________________________________________________ Installing the document reader for DOS ====================================== To install the DOS version of Acrobat; 1) Create a temporary directory on your hard disk e.g. MD \TEMP 2) Change your working directory to temporary directory e.g. CD \TEMP 3) Copy the DOS reader from the CD to the temporary directory e.g. COPY [drive]:\READER\DOS\ACRODOS.EXE 4) Run ACRODOS to extract the compressed files by typing ACRODOS. 5) Run INSTALL to install the Acrobat reader by typing INSTALL. 6) When the installer has finished you will be asked to reboot your system. 7) Having rebooted you can delete the contents of the temporary directory and remove it. Once the reader has been installed you can read/view the documentation by running ACROBAT. To do this, type ACROBAT, and locate the product DOC directory and documentation file on the CD. _____________________________________________________________________________ Installing the document reader for Windows 3.x ============================================== To install the Windows 3.x version of Acrobat; start Windows and choose Run from the File menu in the Program Manager. Type [drive]:\READER\WIN31\ACROREAD, choose OK and follow the instructions that appear on screen. Once the reader has been installed you can read/view the documentation by using the File Manager to locate the product DOC directory on the CD and double clicking on the document file. This will automatically launch the document reader. _____________________________________________________________________________ Installing the document reader for Windows 95 ============================================= To install the Windows 95 version of Acrobat; start Windows and choose Run from the Start menu. Browse to the folder [drive]:\Reader\Win95, open Acroread, click OK and follow the instructions that appear on screen. Once the reader has been installed you can read/view the documentation by using Windows Explorer to locate the product Doc folder on the CD and double clicking on the document file. Open the Display Properties control panel (the quickest way is to click the right mouse button on the Windows background and select Properties). 7. Select the Settings tab and click on Change Display Type. You will see a message asking you if you want to scan for new hardware. Choose NO. 8. Make sure that the Monitor Type line contains the name of your monitor. If not, choose Change Monitor Type, select your monitor from the list and click OK. 9. Insert the CD into your system. Choose Change Adapter Type and click Have Disk. 10. Choose Browse and locate the folder [drive]:\PCIMovie\Win95\Disk1 on the CD, select PCIMovie from the list and click OK. 11. When the PCIMovie files have been copied to your PC, the Change Display Type window will be re-displayed. Choose Close. 12. Switch off your computer and disconnect the monitor cable from your GrafixStar 300/500/700 card. 2. Remove the GrafixStar 300/500/700 card; keep the screw, you will need it later to secure the GrafixStar-VMC Controller assembly. 3. Line up the connectors on the VMC Controller with the connectors on the GrafixStar card and press on the VMC Controller so that the pins are fully embedded in their holes. 4. Replace the GrafixStar 300/500/700 card in the slot you removed it from. 5. Replace the cover of your computer, reconnect your monitor cable to the GrafixStar 300/500/700 card and Switch on your computer and your computer monitor. Installing the VMC Controller Software ====================================== 1. Insert the CD into your system. 2. What you do next depends on the operating system you are using: Windows 95: Start Windows. Press the Start button and choose Run. Type [drive]:\vmc\win95\setup and choose OK. Windows 3.1 or 3.11: Start Windows and choose Run from the File menu in Program Manager. Type [drive]:\vmc\win31\setup and choose OK. 3. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
