Name: SubTransit Homage - Harb!ngeR Author: The Harb!ngeR of Fish Email : harbinger@storm-1.freeserve.co.uk WebSite : www.planetquake.com/elf .Bsp name: SUBWAY.BSP Spec: A Deathmatch only level, but unlike a normal DM level, this is set within an active railway line which runs around the edge of the map. A small train runs around the level on the tracks, which you can either ride on or be crushed by! Level info: At a recent LAN meeting between members of the ELF I was introduced to probably the greatest single player shoot 'em up that I've ever played, Half-Life. The single player element is great, better than any other game including Quake, but the DM element I wasn't so impressed by. There were only two really inventive levels that impressed me, one was a level set around a narrow river that included a great trap that's impossible in Quake because if you move a water brush it becomes solid (I'm allways a sucker for traps, just check out my level CARGOSHP.BSP!) The other great level was a map named SubTransit. Obviously I can't do some of the neat things that you can do in Half-Life, for instance conveyor belts that move smoothly, rotating brushes that also follow a path,or a train that you can control it's speed and direction, and in any case I didn't do a direct copy of the level, adding some elements of my own where I couldn't remember what came next (I don't have a copy of HL on my Laptop, which I used for making this map) Either way, I dedicate this map to whoever created the original SubTransit map, and to whoever thought up the idea of controlable trains, we salute you!
