The accompanying zip prun3214.zip contains a Shareware Quake Patch Runner. The author David Lenk (me) assures that the contents of these two files are virus free. I think that this set should be placed into the frontends section or mabye the utils section. but I have no descretion. Thanks for taking your time to review these files. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ David Lenk's Quake Patch Runner (Prun32) Copyright 1997 PLT Publishing. PLT Publishing is David Lenk (~SamWise~) and Anthony Lawson. //// \\\\\ Prun32 \\\\ ///// Contents 1. How To Use 3. Registering 3. Background 1. Prun32 has an easy to learn point and click interface. The interface was designed for even the most computer iliterate to use, (pardon the exxpression). In order for the program to function properly it needs to be placed in the Quake folder, this is so it can 'shell' your selections and run quake. Prun32 needs Visual Basic 32bit runtime module vb40032.dll, Prun32 is a native Win32 application and may not function properly when run under Win 3.1 with Win32 or other 32bit operating systems. If you require a 16bit Windows or Dos version I also Programm Prun.exe a text based version, (posibly better then the win32 version, well not really) this 16bit version is very straight forward and should be very easy to use, it is very flexible and can be customized. 2. Registration information is provided in the program (Prun32). This Program is NOT crippled in ANY way! Registration is only $5 (US funds only, no checks) Registration will remove register remarks thoughout the program. 3. This Program is Shareware, not freeware or Public Domain. As of now this program is provided as shareware, at any time I hold the right to change the amount of the registration fee, obviously not a whole lot because of the scope of the program, but I need to be compensated for my efforts. As of now the Fee is $5 (US funds only, no checks). I enjoy playing Quake but I dislike typing gobs of text at a dos prompt just to get my game started, being an avid programmer I took it upon myself to create a patch runner, at first the program was more anoying then usfull (being written in Qbasic and all) so I revamped the UI and recompiled it. This new version was still dos bassed but is possibly my best version yet. I brought it to school and it was a hit. Still I perspired to make it better, so I purchased Visual Basic 4.0 and started porting it, the results were terible. I didn't know square one about VB but I continued to learn, slowly I got better and more confident that I could finnish. first I designed the GUI, after 3 or 4 different GUI designs I settled for the current one, coded all procedures and fin tuned the bugs out. Only problem is that I couldn't figure out how to call external programms (shell), this passed soon and I finaly finnished the first version v1.02 (not released). I am continually working at perfecting something or another on at least one project so that I may better help out others including myself. As of the writting of this ReadMe (1:20 AM 7/23/97) the current version is 1.4b2. David Lenk, PLT Publishing.
