This zip file contains the gamex86.dll of the early version of the velocity-based movement code. Actually, it is a hybrid of id's original movement code and velocity. The shotgun soldiers and blaster soldiers have all turned into "berserkers". The reason is that this should allow you to see the new movement code in action since berserkers only have melee attacks. All the walking monsters, however, do use this new movement code. But it is easier to see it in action with berserkers. This hybrid movement is going to be used for VERY SELECT Stroggs. The KEY WORDS here is VERY and SELECT. Not all of the Stroggs will have this new movement. The reasons are two fold: a) the falling off ledges is not as good as id's original and b) it is more CPU intensive than id's original. However, the new code does have its advantages. These are: a) ability to walk on broken ground. A perfect example is the single-player start room on the user-created map called "Crater's Edge". Download this map from CDROM.COM. b) ability to jump over gaps, ability to jump on its own without requiring the mapper to place entities on the level that tells the Strogg to jump c) ability to swim.
