2) Introduction
===============

Deadly DooM began production over TWO years ago as a pass time project. With work at first being done very week we left the project alone for a while last year for other projects.
We then decided upon the release of the DooM Source Code to release it as a non advance DooM Port.

Work finshed in July 1999 on this new chapter to DooM, Deadly!

The name may now not be original but the levels are. We decided this name way before the project got under way back in 1996 when the company formed. We decided we was intime going to make a DooM Add-on.

This is why we also call this "Deadly DooM V1.92" or DDOOM as they're are already Many Deadly DooMs out there, but non as complex as this.

3) The Story
============
Four Years have passed since UAC Closed it's gateways to hell. Experiments are different now and much more high security and safety is assured.
But untill a year ago the area which the experiment was situated in was sealed for protection against potential threats both on and off this world.

That was untill UAC opened it's doors to the public as company tours. They needed the money in order to keep the threat under control, so they began holidays to MARS and tours around the facilities.

On the morning of September 3rd UAC Technical services ripped off the 18inch thick metal plating covering the only doors to the Area. As soon as they pulled the doors open they're was pitch black and an awful smell.

It took a few minutes for the power to be re-activated for everyone to see.
As soon as  the lights came on they're was the sight of blood up against walls and then a sudden scream from somewhere within the sealed area.

All of a sudden, ALARMS started to sound and they're was panic for the gates to hell had once again opened on power up. The off switch was not flicked buy who ever was in they're last.

Time to call in the worlds toughest and most breifed Marines to Save the world, once again!

4) Requirements
===============

- Dehacked (2 or higher)
You need to load the DEH file into Dehacked then save it as an exe in order to play Deadly properly. We couldn't include it in the zip due to copyright restrictions. We're sure someone out they're will release it as an exe.

- Registered version of The Ultimate DooM V1.9 (No other)
  Get it from ftp.cdrom.com/pub/doom/

- An IBM PC running at least DX2/66mhz with 8mb ram, Dos 5.0 or higher.

- A Soundcard is optional but is recommended.

- A Regular look at our site for updates (They will appear)

- An active brain to keep wide awake and aware.

5) Installations and 6) Setting up
================     =============
a) Unzip the self extracting exe in a sub directory in you DooM directory
   *** i.e c:\doom\deadly\ *** (Default directory)
   (This is required or Deadly DooM Will not run properly.)
b) Then Exit to dos and goto the directory where deadly is located.
c) Type setup. (This will copy your doom configurations to the deadly DooM)
d) Copy DooM.exe to the deadly Directory (V1.9 required.)
e) Install and setup dehacked so that it will run of the
   ***DOOM.EXE in the DEADLY DIRECTORY***
   (You have to edit the Dehacked.ini file in order to do this)
f) Press F1 for commands. Load up the Deadly.deh file located in the deadly directory.
g) Now Make sure it is the Deadly DooM.exe your reading.
   You can do this by pressing F7 for the Text Page then scroll down andlook
   for the following: "Deadly DooM Startup v%.i%2"
h) If you don't see the above but see "The Ultimate DooM Startup v%i.%i then repeat from step <<4)d)>>
i) now save the exe and exit Dehacked.
j) Now run deadly by typing Deadly (NOT DooM.exe)

7) Network Play and Custom wad files.
=====================================

Deadly DooM has been designed and tested on both Co-op and Deathmatch.
All levels are superbly created to offer a great game of deathmatch and co-operative over a serial, IPX Network and the Internet.

We recommend you watch the demos when you first load Deadly to see how the network shapes up on two of the levels.

Running Deadly DooM on a network is simple.

follow these steps:-

a) Copy Ipxsetup.exe/sersetup.exe to the Deadly Directory.
b) Copy DM.exe (If you have it) If you don't get it from ftp.cdrom.com/pub/doom/
c) now run DM and setup the type of game (No. of players/skill etc..)
d) Now Make sure Wad files are enabled, and the following are there:
   "deadly.wad" and anyother wad you want included if you are making a deadly    DooM add-on.
e) press F10 and go.

The above steps are required for both network and/OR custom wad files is you have any you want to play that little harder.

8) Troubleshooting
==================

We are not about to help you with any DooM related problems other than one's connected with Deadly.

The following have been known to occur:

a) Problem:
   "I'm playing Deadly DooM when my Computer suddenly locks up and all lines
   are on a scren like my monitors been shreaded"
   Cause:
   Deadly DooM has been know in testing to lock up on certain
   sound card models when such as creative labs SB16 Compatible sound cards.
   Soloution:
   Go into DooM's Setup facility and disable the music card. (Set as -NONE-)
   Now go into the Deadly Directory and type Setup so that the configuration
   is updated to deadly.
   The Computer WILL NOT CRASH NOW!

b) Problem:
   "I have no Sounds or Music!"
   Cause:
   You did not type "Setup" in the deadly directory.
   Soloution:
   Type "Setup"

c) Problem:
   "I keep getting "Bad command or filename!""
   Cause:
   No DooM.exe in deadly Directory.
   Soloution:
   Copy the DooM exe to the Deadly directory and install and setup dehacked     to change the exe.

d) Problem:
   "I keep getting the message from DooM Game Mode indeterminate"
   Cause:
   You have not set the DooM exe to be Deadly.
   Soloution:
   Install and run dehacked.

e) Problem:
   "I've run Deadly DooM but don't see any difference from normal DooM at    the loading screen"
   Cause: 
   You have not converted the exe to Deadly doom so it wont load properly.
   Soloution:
   Run Dehacked and save it as the Exe file.

f) Problem:
   "I run Deadly levels over a network"
   Cause:
   No Ipxsetup etc...
   Soloution See Section (7)




g) Problem:
   "I've got a deadly DooM to work on single player but when it's about to go 
   into deadly doom or has just started, i keep getting a consistency 
   failure."
   Cause:
   One player has incorrect configuration.
   Soloution all make sure you are loading the exact same network and game
   configurations.

h) Problem:
   "I've had a problem with Doom since i first got the damn thing!"
   Cause:
   Unknown
   Soloution:
   Contact GT interactive or idsoftware.

i) Problem:
   "Since installing Deadly DooM, i've had problems with normal doom."
   Cause:
   Incorrect installation.
   Soloution:
   Install DOOM again (Don't delete directory as you will loose all saved
   games and Deadly DooM.
