WORLD.WAD WALKTROUGH ==================== 17th December 1999 - Note from the editor The date of the wad in question is 21st December 1994, so this is being written almost 5 years to the day after I originally created this set of levels. The reason for this walkthrough is because when I rediscovered these maps (about a week ago) I played them through, and it took me bloody ages. Typical first map stuff really, at the time I'm sure I thought they were perfectly logical and also very easy. The joys of being 16 #8¬)... A lot of things have happened in 5 years though, and I forgot. It's taken a fair while to figure the early levels out, levels 6 onwards seem fairly straightforward (hence no notes). One thing about these levels - they're not small. They're also littered with secrets, some ranging from easy to find to others that are so bizzaar I wonder what the hell I was on.. Most of the levels also have a very quick path to the exit, but a lot more playtime if you're looking for the secrets. Unfortunately, this also means that some of the levels are damn confusing, as there's little to define what is the right path. Anyway, here we go, enjoy my first ever levels.... -Alex M, aka Pingu pingu@planetquake.com Key === North is considered to be straight up the screen on the map. RH - Right Hand. Will be used as RHWall LH - Left Hand. As above. BIO - BIO-Suit SD - Secret Door E1M1 ==== (All the secrets) Get Shotgun, exit thru secret door at back. Turn left, down the lift. Shoot RHWall, go up lift to backpack. Retrace steps. Down long stairs, 2nd window is a lift, activate and collect the goodies. Find the BIO and then go back up the window-lift (via switch). Acid passage has now opened, go thru and collect blue armour. Go back to window area once collected. "Secret" Door between silver struts, follow dark path down. First light panel is a SD with light-amp goggles. Following path still, you'll come across a body on a spike - SD on LHWall here. Up lift, thru SD, collect goodies as you follow around. DO NOT PUSH SWITCH. Drop down into pit, collect Plasma gun thru SD half way up staircase. Grab mega-health, go thru tele. Walk along corridor, flicking switch and diving thru LFDoor once open. Grab all powerups, drop down, follow to left, thru door & kill big baddies. Walk to exit. Blue key opens door at start - map of level there. E1M2 ==== (Best path through) Follow safe path on lava to the dark passages, once there make your way to the bottom most chamber (on the map). Go thru tele found there, follow passage round & flick switch, then retrace steps. Back in bottom chamber with a new passage open. Pick the shotgun up, flick the switch & LEG IT down RHCorridor (timed door at end). Flick the switch thru there then make your way back to the start (use map if needed). Go down the lift (east branch). Up RHStairs, up RHLift & into the now open passage (bit long this one). Follow round to the red key card, pick it up & drop off edge, go back to start. Now go through west branch & take first RHCorridor and make your way to the topmost chamber. Switch through red key door lowers blue key. Get that, back to start & through North branch, follow round to exit. E1M3 ==== (Quickest path) Window ledge thru RHDoor is a lift, go down & flick switch to lower pillar. Walk across this to open opposite door. Follow level down. Once down big lift, LHRoom holds red key. Make your way to the opposite side once this is picked up, up the lift. Go left, thru the big room, follow path & drop down dark passage. Get blue key, walk AWAY from red key door, up lift & thru the exit. E1M4 ==== (All of it, bit complicated) Door behind you at the start is where you want to go. Down lift, RHTele goes to secrets, LHTele skips to (2). (1) Outside first area, walk around to lift. Up that, down loooooooonnnnngggg staircase, you'll arrive at some lava. SD to left reveals BIO, grab that & storm onto the lava. Grab the goodies on the far ledge, then thru the tele to (2) (2) Small area. Switch lowers pillars to let you get to a secret - dive across the plat's as the lower. Grab blue armour which brings you back to (2). Round to the left is a lift which drops down into (3), the central point of the level. (3 - first visit) Pick up BIO and stay on that lift as it rises. Follow acid path round to left, check the easy secret on the left before entering the large chamber. Up lift at far end, into a staircase. Study the skylights - SD on step with one that flashes. Go down all steps, flick both switches and back into large chamber. Back across acid, follow it straight across and follow left. Thru tele back to.. (3 - second visit) Go up remaining lift. Follow path round (secret wall - walk through marble section in tight passage area), and go through the tele. Follow the candles to a switch, flick that and retrace back to the tele. (3 - final visit). Flick the middle switch, go up lift back to acid. This time bear right at the T junction, the ledges are now down, follow the linear path through a couple of rooms to the exit. E1M5 ==== (Quickest path) Take South teleport, big room. Get to southmost room, find the switch the border corridor which lowers the tele in the small central room. Thru that, there's a switch to activate before you walk off the spawn-pad. This lowers the floor opposite. Go up that path, and down the lift. Half way down on the LHWall is a room, stay pressed against the light panel as the lift moves to get in. Flick that switch to lower the blue key in the first big room. Retrace your steps to get the blue key, then through the tele to the start. Take west tele to exit. THE REST OF THE LEVEL IS JUST A DISTRACTION (but damn good fun). E1M6 & E1M7 =========== Fairly simple, linear levels. Pretty good fun too =) E1M8 will look fairly familiar....
