The Destiny Communion Information Pack Party Information Competitions Getting There Address + Phone Numbers Credits Relinquish! Party Information: In the 36 hours that come between 10 am on Saturday, 28th August and 10 pm Sunday, 29th August Destiny will be transforming NVH halls, Newington, Kent into an Amiga powerhouse for the ONLY Amiga scene party to be held in the UK this Summer, the Destiny Communion. We're organising this party because we've been planning to hold one for a long time and the huge gap in the scene calendar this Summer seems ideal. We have invested, and have still to invest, a great deal of time, effort, not to mention our own money, in making this event a success. The venue, NVH halls, was built only last year so we were lucky to be able to book it for the weekend. It has a large hall, a kitchen area with servery, modern toilets, and several control rooms, all of which will be utlilised duting the party. Furthermore, if advance ticket sales are high enough, we will book another, smaller hall within the building, and should excellent ticket sales warrent it we will also book the building directly opposite! Destiny have produced a free leaflet about the party, including more details, pictures, travel information and a ticket order form. If you'd like a copy, call Andy on +44 (0) 795 842608 and one will be sent straight away, regardless of where you hail from. Let's take a closer look at the facilities we offer to you: - 36 non-stop hours of Amiga and non-Amiga entertainment. - An Internal TV station, broadcasting 24 hours througout the event. - Amiga Competitions and non-Amiga competitions (detailed in the "Competitions" section). - Nearby attractions in case you get bored. - Adequate (that makes a change!) bar facilities! - Cheap food. Internal TV: Never before attempted at a UK party, Destiny aims to keep it's Internal TV channel on air throughout the party. It will be used for screening pre-recorded entertainment (farmer Spud etc.), travel information (bus and train times), the competitions, a specially devised scene quiz and the non-Amiga competitions! There will also be a sweepstake on the number of technical problems that occur on this network during the course of the event (my money's on 230!) Cheap booze: A pint of Fosters export will set you back 2.56 GBP in a local bar. At the Communion it'll cost you only 1 GBP, and there will be other equally enticing offers on alcoholics. If you're a real hard-man drinker and want more details, just give us a call. Cheap Pizza: This is available. You'll be able to buy Perfect Pizza for just 60% of it's original price. The party venue is easily accessed by both car and train. By train, we're just a 2 minute walk from a station on the Victoria Mainline. If you have to travel to London first (which is most of you) you'll be eligable for an Intercity APEX fare for half price travel. As far as we can see this is the easiest UK party for train access, ever. Access by car is just as easy. First, we'll send a GB Route road map with every advance order for tickets. Bring your machine! There's plenty of seating and tables for all, and a strong power supply. If you bring your machine, remember to bring a four/three way adaptor depending on the number of sockets you will need. Please mark your equipment with your name and group, labels will be supplied free for this purpose. Any equipment left at the end (and we expect a net gain of four-ways) will be returned to the owner. If you bring your machine, you'll get a free pint of Fosters from the bar (or anything up to the value - we'll issue drinks tokens for the bar.) If you have any queries, don't hesitate to contact the character below: Donald (ie. Tantalus/Destiny) Competitions include: - Demo (trackmo, megademo and single file demos are acceptable) - Music (modules under 380K, please) - Graphics (no AGA artwork) - Under 40K intro competition (under 40K crunched) - AT+T bs'ing competition. In addition to these competitions there will be many surprise competitions that do not involve a computer and a scene quiz broadcast live on the internal TV network. Please note that no more than two modules may be submitted by any one musician and that graphics artists may not submit more that two pictures. Voting, where it applies, will be done by YOU the guest - not a small panel of biased "elites". Each voting form will be marked with your unique ticket number, and you will not be allowed to vote for your own group - be warned, we'll be checking! A member of another group will be present in the Destiny Control room whilst vote counting is taking place to ensure nothing untoward is happening! Anyone arguing with the voting will be shut in a small room with Spud's dog Toby and made to wear Tantalus' deodrant (Toby trys to eat anyone wearing it). The UK division of a group will not be allowed to vote for the overseas division and vice versa. Rigging can and will be detected! You now have to present to enter competitions. The exceptions to this rule include (but are not limited to) foreign guys where at least two members of the foreign section are present. Other exceptions are at our discretion and lack of funds will not be deemed an acceptable excuse for non-attendance!! After all, you couldn't participate in the wheelie-bin race by postal entry, could you? Diskthrow rules: The disk must contain software specified on the day. You may modify the disk but it must not be any bigger than an untampered disk. Wheelie Bin races: This will use an elimination process. You'll get the gist on the day. Fighting with inflatable dolphins on a giant bouncing castle: This competition will also use a series of elimiation rounds. Fancy, eh? Scene Quiz: This specially devised "game show" will test your knowledge of the scene and will involve other general knowledge questions. Rest assured, although designed as a game show it's not the sort of thing you'd expect on early-morning TV. Teams of three will be allowed to enter from each group. There'll be prizes just for entering and points will be added to overall group scores for the winners. If you require more information, feel free to give us a call, or even write! How to get there: The party is easily accessed by car, train and moped. If you intend to travel by car, please tell us when ordering tickets and you will be sent a road map in the form of a GB Route print-out. Once off the M2, look for the distinctive Communion direction signs (an arrow pointing out the right direction overlaying an inverted green triangle). The Communion is being held 150 metres from a train station on the Victoria mainline. It's a two-minute walk from the venue so a taxi won't be required unless you're dangerously unfit (BTW - we have very wide doors for obese people -ie. Martin). This is the easiest train-access party we know of, and was one of the main influencing factors when booking the venue. Since so many of you will be travelling on the same trains, ticking the train box will get you a large sticker to wear on the train so that other party-goers can identify you. If you travel in a car, ask for a Communion sign for your back window!! If you're travelling from 'Up North', the West, Southwest or East of England, you'll find you're eligable for an Intercity APEX fare for half price rail travel. If you require more information on this service, please ask when ordering tickets. International Travellers: If you're coming across as a foot-passenger on the ferry, catch the train from Dover directly there. If you're coming from anywhere else and require direction, you'll get it when you order tickets - like it or not! Seriously, if you're planning to attend and live abroad, please contact us as early as possible because we can be of help. We have a ticket ordering service for train travel (you might not be able to book a seat on the day you arrive otherwise) and can help with road maps, train times etc. If you have any problems - just give us a call and we'll do our best to help.
